Vaughn's RCR Build

The last pictures I posted I wanted to post in my RCR Build thread, but I neglected to do so. So with the help of my grandson who is very techno I'm able to do this and take lessons at the same time. Youth is a wonderful thing. Whenever I get in trouble I can just call my grandson and he bails me out. The more I practice this the better I will get.

More pictures of the plumbing portion of the build and the installation of radiator shroud, which is made of polished stainless steal NOT ALUMINUM. As I said in my previous post Dale cut the holes out with a plasma cutter, if you do that you've got to move really quickly or you will warp and overheat the metal.

More pictures of what's going on under the dash and the dash itself. We are also beginning to install the windshield wiper motor. The heater and air conditioning unit are installed along with brakes and emergency brake. More pictures to follow next week. It really feels good to be back on this build. I was telling Fran that I would like to get this built before I'm too old to drive it. By the way RCR has been very helpful with information parts for this build. Whenever I call there's always someone there to give me a clear answer to my questions. That new SC-L is very tempting but first things first.

Well, here are a few pictures of the Plexiglass window installation. I also use clear tape as many of you did in order to prevent scratching and also allowing me to see the bezel more clearly for a better fit. I didn't use clear tape on the rear window led as it was nearly cut to finished. We were very pleased with the final fit.

Here are some more pictures of the front headlight installation and some stainless steel work that I did on the door closures and latches. We took some heavy paper and made a pattern of what we wanted in the stainless steel and then had it duplicated in stainless. Again we were happy with the finished product.her

Some more pictures of the door casing assembly. I really liked the finished product the polished stainless really sets the door casing off well. Also got the motor finished and Dino tuned. It's a 347 stroker it made 500 hp and 465 foot-pounds of torque. Pictures to follow later on.

Vaughn - that's got to be the finest external door latch installation I've seen here... Very nice indeed!

Here are some pictures of the motor that we just got back from being Dino turned. We made right at 500 hp with 465 foot-pounds of torque. Not bad for a little Mexican block 302. Had it built by the performance shop here in Redding California by Wild Bill the owner. He really knows how to squeeze out the horsepower. We will be marrying this up to a polished ZF which I purchased from Dennis a Pantera specialist in Colorado. I'm very happy with the final result, and I'm looking forward to getting this bad boy in the car when we get back from Alaska this summer.

Here are some current pictures of the progress that Dale and I are making on the build. We have the engine and tranny installed and all of the plumbing and most of the wiring done. We just have a little more to do on wiring the dash and then we should be able to light the candle on this thing. Spent a lot of time polishing aluminum but I think it's going to pay off in the end. We're doing our best at hiding most of the wiring but that can be a real challenge with this particular car ( no place to hide).

Very nice

You may want to run that plug wire on the front right under the manifold. I brought all of mine from under neath avoiding any melting of wire issues.
