Engine weights.

As per the title. I have just got hold of some digital scales up to 300kg so I thought I would post up the weight s of various sbf stuff I have here. There seems so much conflicting info on this I thought I would put the subject to bed

Bare 302 non roller block with main caps 1972 = 61.6 kg
Bare 302 non roller block with main caps 1967 = 58.9 kg
Bare Boss mustang block " " " " = 62.9 kg
Bare 8.2 svo block " " " = 82.9 kg
GT 40p heads complete with valves+ rockers = 25KG
1967 standard 302 head complete = 23KG
standard 302 crank = 18.1 kg

I have loads more to weigh so will keep adding.

Can someone weigh some ali heads.

A few results from when I weighed some parts a while back. All in lbs as I am not digital yet!

Original iron head 50lbs each
Edelbrock Performer RPM head 29lbs each

Original iron intake manifold 42 lbs
Edelbrock Performer RPM ally inlet manifold 17 lbs

Ford SBF 302 block bare (just mains caps) 152 lbs

Cheers

Always like this sort of info so added the kilos to it...

Original iron head 50lbs each = 22.67 kg
Edelbrock Performer RPM head 29lbs each = 13.15 kg

Original iron intake manifold 42 lbs = 19.05 kg
Edelbrock Performer RPM ally inlet manifold 17 lbs = 7.71 kg

Ford SBF 302 block bare (just mains caps) 152 lbs = 68.95 kg

Interesting difference in weight between the blocks on the 302. The blocks I have here are bored 30thou over and have been hot tanked so there are no core plugs or oil way plugs. That few kg difference must be the material missing from the bore and all the sludge and crap washed out in the hot tank.
It also dispels the rumor that the 302 boss block with its four bolt mains has more material around its webs.

There is a thread on this subject somewhere that includes weights for alloy blocks etc.
Thread was called something funny like weight watchers or mass misers or....

Tim.
