Immigration

Just saw it and find it interesting.

The conclusion reminds me of what the Salesian priests do when sending missionaries into developing areas. They go to help the locals solve the issues the locals have no idea to resolve, like road and dam building, mechanized farming, construction etc.

And it works.

Domtoni,

Not sure the indigenous people of the various rainforests would agree it works.

I think the point of the video is that economically the US cannot sustain 1 or 2 million immigrants a year. And the notion that we are helping world poverty by doing this is absurd when 2 million is only 1/25 of the new poverty population growth. The US is not the savior of the world, and we should rethink this before we are a third world country. We won't do anyone any good at that point.

Al, the point I made was the same as the video, help the people where they are solve their own problems, teach them to fish rather than giving them a fish.

Let them work and support themselves? What, no social programs? What the hell are you thinking? What do you think we have the Obama stash for?

SO GLAD you have abandoned your radical conservative views and have finally managed to see the "softer" side of the political spectrum.

Now, if we could only figure out the best way you could help to forward Bee-OH's agenda, maybe we could put this newfound "kindler and gentler" Al to work for the betterment of mankind

Cheers from Doug, Al!!!

There you go, you've found your common ground--golf! That's always a good beginning!

Believe me, after spending 32 years teaching students with educational handicaps, as well as teaching teachers and parents how to deal with the "hard to teach" population, I am a firm believer in teaching people to do for themselves!!!! It really gets my goat to see an able bodied person at a grocery store paying with food stamps (well, they are a "debit card" now) and having one of the high school life-skills students WORKING, packing his groceries into bags and placing them carefully in his cart. It's not always about cognitive abilities, sometimes it's about willingness to work and desire to achieve.

But, I digress....back to the topic at hand. Perhaps if we could teach you to appreciate the "softer" side of politics, this might be of benefit to mankind....but, then, I can see you're already well on your way. Cheers to you, Al!!
