I read an article the other day about how various states are lining up to outlaw the Tesla, based upon the way it's marketed. Tesla doesn't sell through traditional dealerships; instead, they typically have a store in a mall where you can view a car, plus a cutaway example, and then you buy the car from home, online, directly from Tesla, with no negotiating or haggling (or trade-ins).
The powerful auto dealers lobby does not like this at ALL, and has successfully coerced politicians in at least five or six states to outlaw the practice of selling new cars by any means other than through a conventional dealership. It will be interesting to see how these cases work their way through the court system....
