"We have to pass the bill to find out what's in it." N. Pelosi

Not only did they have to cloak the details of obamacare, they had to lie about it because these "elite" liberals are too smart for the rest of us;

"This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO [Congressional Budget Office] scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies. Okay, so it’s written to do that. In terms of risk rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in – you made explicit healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed… Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really really critical for the thing to pass....Look, I wish Mark was right that we could make it all transparent, but I’d rather have this law than not."

Thought you guys in other countries might be interested in what goes on here in the war of American ideologies.

...and now - even though Pelosi's office cited Gruber's analysis extensively back in 2009 - Pelosi is denying she knows who the guy IS! It can be argued left lies about EVERYTHING!

Yesteryear's news...and what of it? You'd think that the conservatives would be happy over the recent election results, but NOOOOOOO....they gotta drag out the red herring and beat a dead horse with it.

C'mon, guys...enjoy the victory! I hate to admit it, but you deserve to celebrate, the conservative contingent really got out the vote. I frequently say that democracy is about what the majority of the people in the country want, and I still believe that whatever is good for the majority of the public is what should go down...but the conservatives won because they were PISSED and they went to the polls.

Well done!

...but no need to beat a dead horse...:thumbsdown:

Yeeeeeeeeeeup...nothing to see here...there's nothing to be gained from knowing whom the guy behind the curtain may be...nor who's been lying to us about what or how often.

Right?

How can you tell when a politician is lying?....Their lips are moving....and I mean all of the bastards, I don't care which country they come from or which side of politics, they will say anything and do anything including telling outright bare faced lies to stay in power and get your vote. Bastards!!

Doug, I suppose that was a compliment of sorts to conservatives.

BTW, a common misconception is the US system of govt is "majority rules". That's not the way the US works. In fact, the founders chose a republic explicitly designed to PREVENT majority rule. Yes, the majority wins the vote (although you imply that it wasn't the case in the 2014 election) but our govt is designed to prevent the majority from imposing their will on the minority. If it wasn't for that, we'd have no civil rights movement. Morsi and al Malaki took the "majority rule" approach and tried to shove their will on the populace in their countries. Their systems of govt didn't adequately prevent it and it hasn't worked out well overall...........

It is, Steve. IMHO the Libs were too comfortable in their complacency...they were sure the country blamed the Repubs for governmental gridlock and so too many of them failed to vote. The polls showed that while most Americans blamed the government in general, the general tone was that conservatives were the villains. I firmly believe that they were and that in their complacency the Libs just believed the vote would go their way. The conservatives probably saw that writing on the wall and they mobilized their contingent and the result was that they took control of the legislature.

Majority rule means the majority of the voters and the conservatives realized that...they deserved the wins and should feel good about what I see as "...the upset".

Let's see if the Libs can get the message. If you don't vote, you are at the mercy of those who do and you have forfeited your right complain.

I brought this up to illustrate the arrogance of the left. A small microcosm of it exists right here. We have the little man hiding behind the curtain of ginned up data, the "lawyer" browbeating the "unwashed non-intellectuals" with the manipulation of facts to replace the actual truth, and the elitist snobbery that serves as a masquerade for the "dum bass" wrapped up in it.
