Roadster replica?

I am pursuing a GT40 build, seriously considering doing a replica of one of the 5 roadsters. Tried a site search but most of hits using 'roadster' in the term brought up discussions of the owner's cobra roadster. Not the same.

I've built a couple Cobra's and think this might be a fun project. Any suggestions on sources for a body and/or frame? I have the equipment and skills to do the frame myself, if necessary. Located in the midwest USA but not ruling out an import from Great Britian. I discussed the concept briefly with Fran at a PRI show but he seemed only partially interested - busy pursuing his other 'race cars'.

Open to any ideas or suggestions, even if I am biting off more than one can chew.

Thanks

This is a roadster with original FAV type windscreen built on a Superformance tub. The black

We are using a cut down standard MK1 front screen and standard cut down doors with lower side windows.

The roof section is just the section at the rear with the legs.

There is no weather gear as its a permanent roadster.

Thanks

Andy

CAV built a handful of roadsters. Fran Kress had an ERA roadster which is now owned by a Pantera buddy of mine in Holland; Fran replaced it with an identical-looking Superformance (the #54 car above) if my memory is correct?

I wouldn’t try to reinvent the wheel. If you want a roadster, there are some out there, or at least the knowledge is there to enable one to be built by at least those makers, with mire on the way.

The black car I posted is Fran's second ERA roadster, the first one was blue. The black car has since been repainted to red to copy X1. The blue #54 is a Superformance chassis we supplied that was converted. He still has some FAV roadster type windscreens.

Paul Proefrock, where are you located?

I met a guy at the London Cobra Show last June in London, Ohio who sold GT 40 kits. New in the busy. I would think it would be easy to buy a frame and body from him.
Here is a picture of one of his cars. I don't have his name but could get I'm sure. I do remember he lived in the Columbus Ohio area.

Dwight,
Thanks for the lead, I am in the Saint Louis area and often traveling thru Columbus. I'll talk to my contacts at the Ohio Cobra Club and see who he is
