Etching Logos

A buddy of mine just purchased a laser and while setting it up and learning to use it he decided to play around. I thought these were really cool and the detail it can do is flat out amazing to me. Now just need to think of some uses for it on a SLC, without going overboard, any ideas?! They're SS bolts BTW, looks like a sandblasted head, brushed head and polished head for comparison.

The pic with the logo in the corner is 6mm!

What is the diameter of the red keychain fob in first picture? Could you do the same thing on the other side? If so, I would buy a couple of those. What about a necklace?

Scott's got a cool ID plate that would be a good candidate for something like this. Maybe centered, on the rear of your tub kind of like Koenigsegg does it.

Laser marking is pretty amazing these days. At work we do datamatrix codes on ano aluminum and cast titanium that are 4mm square and readable with a cell phone camera.

I would like a Superlite Rectangular Logo to cover the Corvette name on my Supercharger lid. Then it would say “Supercharged Superlite”

Glad I asked for some suggestions, I really like the VIN plate idea and I will need something for mine when it gets issued a VIN in a month or so, Louisiana said I could make my own which is good to know and won't look tacky. Those are indeed key chain size.

Rich, this is the same guy that created the emblem in your avatar with permission. I was just sharing some of the test pieces he's done while setting up his laser, he's not selling anything. With the feedback on this thread, he did inquire about what it would take to get permission for using the logo for selling miscellaneous things with the logo though.

Hey Scott,

There's a typo on your VIN plate, the city is Fraser, Michigan not Fraiser. Just pointing that out if someone is copying that design for making VIN plates.

Mason, Cam already pointed out the typo... not the first or last part I'll need to redo LOL

I had some billet caps laser etched. They scaled it and IMO the text is too close to the OD. I'll might have them redone, but they're good for now.

Per a suggestion, and a requirement in LA to have a VIN plate, I decided to play in CAD for a laser etched VIN plate for my car. Of course won't be colored, but will be different shades of gray. Maybe it's too cluttered?

My buddy is still waiting to hear back on permission to use the logo/emblem to sell, if he gets permissions would anyone be interested? If so, open to ideas and changes to mine to make a more typical looking VIN plate with and without logos. I'd be glad to edit and change stuff with people's feedback. These are anodized aluminum and have most standard colors colors so should look nice and last.

I will also be interested in a VIN plate but it may be a while until I have a VIN. Other products may be of interest also.

Anyone have any suggestions on a preferred layout for the VIN? Would you want the other info about the car on it? Logos? Or just a typical looking VIN plate?
