How about a bespoke swirl pot with two LP inlets, one HP outlet, one HP return, and two tank returns with solenoid valves in series with LP pumps.

Switching one either pump will open the outlet back to its own tank.
Or put both on and vent back to both tanks if the flow will split evenly.

That would work but when you want fuel flow you have to energise the solenoid

With a Pollack it is only energised momentarily when it changes from one tank to the other. Brilliant idea but the plastic bits lets it down

If you need an alternative to the pollak there are several hydraulic alternatives in a six way valve. I have used these on twin tank trucks because they come in the larger port sizes. I have used both the manual and electric versions, and they are very robust. The manual one is basically a cross drilled ball bearing housed in a PTFE seal, the electronic one is the plunger and seal type. I have had no issues with them on both petrol and diesel. Both types available in quarter,three eighths and half inch.

Agree Ian, the plastic bit just looked a bit cheap and tacky.
I am sure it works but just did not like the look of it.
If they did it in steel with nice AN-6 fittings i would not hesitate.
Take your point about keeping the valve energised, need to work out what effect that will have.

Me again! Briging up this old chestnut.
My second Pollack valve has just let go, this time allowing fuel to escape / drip.
What is the current thinking or availability of cross over valves or solenoids? Must say I am tempted to run a single tank to swirl only. As I tend to drive single the fuel tank would,be passenger side. Also tend not to track it so road use.

Only downside is DAX tanks are small at 26 litres per side, so limited mile range!.
So should I fit a transfer pump on a manual switch to allow the second tank as a reserve to refill passenger one? Worries me though that if I do not turn the transfer off I could overfill main tank?

or is it time to say f... it to the fuel injection and go back in time to a carb system?

Ian, Check out the dual tank system Ford used on Pic-ups from 1978/9. I think I'm going to change to this. One switch only, to use left or right tank.

Thanks Bill, they look to be plastic too and only 3 way do no return to the correct tank

Ian, excellent question, and yes it has happened (to me). My set-up recirculates the swirl-pot back to the passenger tank (configurable with both one-way valves and manual valves), so once the passenger tank gets low, I swap LP pumps to the left tank, which then recirculates back to the right tank, and thus refills it. Yes, I've forgotten to swap the LP pump back to the right side tank, once full, in the heat of a track event, and thus dumped some fuel overboard. I'm not as sharp as I was 30 years ago.

Any idea what diameter hose they are for? And how much current they draw?

looks like I would need two, one for flow and the other the return. Because I only run two pumps
tank to valve to LP pump, filter swirl and return to tank and a HP one swirl fuel rail and back to swirl.

i also see Moss has them for sale

It looks like 1/2" hose connection. I have no idea on the current but a call to Moss will no doubt help you.
