Mounting SLC Street Splitter?

Hi,

just trying to get a sense for how the splitter attaches to the radiator box front compartment. The are the two approaches I am thinking of..

1)Is it attached to the underside of the radiator box by screws across the front and that also go through the bottom plate that secure both side panels?

2)Trim the center of the splitter away and attach it on top of the bottom plate only with screws across the front.

Any help and pics showing how it attaches would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Joel

Joel,

I have not mounted mine yet but my chassis came with holes along the front pre-drilled. I assume they are for mounting the splitter.

When I picked up my car the splitter was loosely assembled sitting on top of this chassis plate.

My plan is to use these holes to bolt the splitter on top of the chassis plate. Interested to see how others have done it though.

Thanks guys, appreciate the insight. My splitter appears to be delivered un-altered and the center section cut out is only 15 inches wide. The center section that clears the front compartment is lower than the rest so it looks like it could be bolted under the front compartment If one chooses. My guess is you would do this if your body was mounted under the chassis rather than sitting on top which is what most builders do.

The main reason I am asking is just trying to figure out if the radiator and fan shroud I mocked up will fit under the nose. I am pushing the radiator forward about an inch to make room for the fan shroud from hitting the power brake booster/master cylinder. When I put the clam on I can see it sits a good .5”higher than the center spyder so figure I’d place the splitter in place to see if it takes up the gap to the bottom of the front clam.

Then I saw that the center section was narrower than the front compartment so you guys confirmed it needs to be trimmed.

I also noticed the sides of the body is sitting above the side chassis floor by about .25” so I will need to lower the body flush to the top of the chassis floor. I have some wood shims in place that need to be adjusted. Bottom line is, I won’t attach the radiator until I have the body fitment fitment locked down. There is just not much room for error. I may also have to trim the very top side of the radiator but hopefully not.

Thanks again for the help.

From the back, you can see the inside section is about .5” lower..

Ken, yours looks like the taper is different. Looks like the center section where it attaches to the bottom of the front compartment is higher than the sides. The underside of mine is totally flat, the taper is on top.

Ignore this comment, I think they are tapered the same after looking at your picture again.
