    Rims

What are some good sources for Halibrand and BRM "Style" rims in the US? I am thinking about building my chassis. I really need something with 5 on 4.75 pattern. Image in the UK has a number of good looking options but would like to avoid international shipping...... Thanks!!

    Corvette C5-C6 suspension

As mentioned earlier, it's according to intended use. My car is a street car. I will likely go with stock C5. I bought Chris' chassis plans and I've been comparing to OE C5 (and C6) including possibility of using the cradle. It looks like Chris took out most of the antidive which the GT40...

    Fuel tank location

To me, I'm not sure how much I like having the fuel tank in my escape route. I know it's "authentic" but only my body will be authentic. I'm building to drive and enjoy, little to no track use. A/C, etc.

    Fuel tank location

Thanks for the reply. I've been building cars for nearly 30 years (first GT40). Only a fool proceeds with a build without researching what others have done.....there is no reason that one can't learn from others mistakes (or success). I may go with the normally accepted rocker tanks, but I'd...

    Fuel tank location

I know the purest are running twin tanks in the rockers per original. What have others done? Is anyone running a single fuel cell? What size and where did you mount it? Thanks, Bart

    Bartman's GT40 Build

Well I have collected the body parts including front and rear clips and nostral panel that were used in P1027 as spares to preserve the originals. I also have door spares that were with that car but never used. Jay Cushman has helped me fill in the blanks with nice rockers and roof spider. I'm...

    Newbie Question on MkI rear

I can't imagine why no one has built a replica yet. The back half could be made with plywood. LOL

    Newbie Question on MkI rear

Thanks. I'm excited. I got the front and rear clips and the nostril panel that were on the car when it came in for restoration. I got the spare doors that were never mounted. I bought a pair of rockers that were supposed to be copies of originals (but were not spares for the car) and I have a...

    Newbie Question on MkI rear

Thank you all. I was blessed with the opportunity to purchase the racing spare body parts from P1027 (just fiberglass copies but I think it's cool they were on an original car). I have built other replicas and own a shop that builds street rods and muscle cars. I've been in business many...

    Newbie Question on MkI rear

A couple of books have arrived and I now understand a little better. There are lots and lots of variations. Each team seemed to make some minor tweaks to either gain an advantage or solved a problem based on their need or perception. I will be building a space frame car so the drive for...

    Newbie Question on MkI rear

I have some knowledge about the GT40 and I've ordered a couple of books to try to hone in some details. I have owned a restoration/body shop for nearly 30 years. I've built Cobras and Lambo style kit cars. Anyway, most MKI's have a pair of large tail lights. But a few cars have 4 smaller...

    Most common wheel tire combo

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Do you know what the rim offset is?

    Most common wheel tire combo

Well I have acquired a GT40 body and intend to build the chassis (might change my mind but...) anyway, I have the body and would like to source rims and tires so I can plan chassis. It will just be a spaceframe. Thanks

    Porsche Boxster Trans

Thanks. In the US, all of the "good" Audi boxes are Quattro. I don't think Audi sent 4.2l cars to the US in FWD, only quattro. A good used Boxster 5 speed is 500 bucks and a 6 speed is 1000-1200. I'm just considering options.

    Porsche Boxster Trans

I apologize if I did not dig deep enough. I went back about 7 pages or so in this section. Why are there not more Boxster 5 or 6 speed transaxles being used. Are they weaker than the Audi?
