SPF extra wide body 15x13 BRM wheels

I had a set of CR6ZZ's and found them not to be a good tire for the street...for all the reasons above. I bought a second set of wheels in 15 inch diameter with good street tires (215/60 front, 315/50 back) and ran those on the street. For a track day I loaded the wheels with CR6ZZ's into the...

    F1 2022

Hoping the Team budget caps starts to have an effect in the 2023 season. 2022 was pretty much a repeat of prior seasons with unlimited budgets - Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, etc. all taking the top spots as usual. Love to see Alfa Romeo or Aston or one of the historically smaller and...

    Jokes anyone? -

Vegas stripper thinks she needs some more tattoos to increase business. She decides that what would look really good is Elvis Presley tattoo'd on each thigh. Looking in the mirror later on at home she starts thinking they're really not a very good likeness of Elvis. She goes out in the...

    Projects from hell….

I understand the pain. I changed the front brake pads and rotors on my 2002 Chevy suburban (bought new, now 255,000 miles) as the pads were low and the rotors looked worn. The brakes immediately squeaked on the test drive. I thought "what the %&#@%" (in French also). Changed the pads to a...

What would happen if you tried to hit a baseball pitched at 90% the speed of light?

But man-O-man, if you could hit it with the right bat and the right arm....?? Holy smokes, that would be a record breaker..... Have to watch it sail by with the James Webb.

    To accumulate, or not....

Hi fellas, been a while since I've been on the site. Making some improvements to the Frankenlotus project (Lotus Esprit with 347 SBF). I'm wondering if there's any need or benefit to having a fuel pressure accumulator plumbed into the fuel delivery system downstream of the twin bosch fuel...

Help with 28oz external balancer and timing

Have a spare 28oz external balancer for later SBF 302 - looks like the attached. Couple of questions I'm hoping folks can help me with: 1. Does anyone know how I should be reading the timing marks on this one? Why are there two scales? What does each represent? 2. For roughing in timing...

    302 Oil Pan

If you're doing any kind of real spirited driving....you should use a baffled large capacity pan. Don't use the stock pan for any kind of track event...just my $.02. If you do, oil starvation could be a real issue. There's a number of good pan makers out there who do a nice job of baffled...

Question about oil coolers and oil cooling...

Quick update here. Relocated the oil cooler to the back side of the rear bulkhead with two Spal sucker fans on the other side of the (heat insulated) bulkhead. Total of 5 six inch Spal sucker fans in the engine bay to keep things cool - the 2 drawing air through the oil cooler and three others...

Collector car insurance - any good suggestions?

Thank you gents. Interesting experiences. I have USAA for regular car insurance and it’s fantastic - been with USAA for 25+ years and it’s great. I’m really just wondering about folks experience with collector car insurance. Grundy doubling the premium and renewing despite me sending written...

Collector car insurance - any good suggestions?

Unfortunately, I've not had very good experience over recent years with a number of the usual suspects here: 1. Grundy. This past year they doubled the premium from the prior year ($850/yr. from $400/yr. previously) and auto-renewed the policy when I previously told them not to renew it. I...

Question about oil coolers and oil cooling...

Hi Gents, Thank you for the information here, that's really helpful. I had not thought about running the two coolers in parallel, but that's obviously a good idea. I'm trying to figure out how to add the Fluidyne because on a hot Seattle day (85 degrees - hot for Seattle) just running on...

Question about oil coolers and oil cooling...

Refinement work continues on my "Fortus" frankenstein Lotus esprit project (347 stroker in a Lotus Esprit). Things are basically running well and I'm pleased with all systems - fueling, engine, transaxle, exhaust, brakes, etc. She runs relatively cool generally speaking. When things get hot I...

    Exhaust heat shields

Ditto what's already been said here: coat the headers with ceramic, and also use some fans to move air out of the compact area between the headers and firewall. I have similar cooling issues in my project car. In addition to ceramic coating the headers I installed two 10" Spal fans, one at...

    Audi 016. Been a while.....

Been a while since I've been on the site here. Completing a recovery from bone marrow cancer (leukemia) and starting to get back to normal. Great to be getting out to the garage and mucking around with the greasy bits (no, not mine). I have two Audi 016's. Both are good boxes, and have been...

    0-60 times in SLC

My old (2005) mercedes S600 V12 twin turbo gets to 60 in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 191 (with limiter removed) - with four seats, great AC, good sound system, sun shades, massage/heat/cool seats, power everything. Can an SLC beat 4.4 and 191? I'm just baiting you on here.....
