    Moto-Lita steering wheel adaptors

Hi all Long time ago I bought one of the 'OEM' GT40 Moto-Lita steering wheels. (I know, I know, it's not original because of the name etched into it....) Now it's time to try and fit it. Oh joy! Unique PCD - 78mm. The boss on my steering column is 70mm PCD and I have a horn push badge kit which...

    GT40 Australia #52

At last good news. GT40 Australia/ DRB #52 is finally registered. It has been a long time coming and hopefully will be out on track on a regular basis soon. Unfortunately I don't think I'll make it to Philip Island. I did have a shake down 4 years ago at Mallory Park - Unfortunately the old...

New registration query - MOT status

Hi Steve. Thank you. Actually my second 40. First was sold before ordering this one. It's still around, now in Finland. With regards the MOT, I screen printed above the details of a more normal new car. It shows 'No results returned' and First MOT due = 2 March 2025. But my car shows 'No...

New registration query - MOT status

Hi all. AT LAST my DRB has IVA and Registration, with new 22 plate. Only 19 years in the making....... I believe it is the only DRB in Europe. Let me know if you know otherwise. I have a query about the date of next MOT. When I look up my registration on the gov.uk website, I see this - and...

UK emissions IVA. Carb problems 850DP. Holley (which) or ???

Thanks Big-Foot Vacuum is around 8 at idle and currently power valve is 6.5 which we know is too high, hence going to put blanking plug in for testing. Long term we will try 3.5 power valve but want to get idle/ part throttle sorted first. Replacing with smaller (say 750 or even 600) is...

UK emissions IVA. Carb problems 850DP. Holley (which) or ???

Hi all. Getting very frustrated with the carb now having spent many hours working on it and also reading up on how to set up, how to rebuild, how to diagnose etc etc so hoping you guys can help out. I'm having troubles getting current carb which was supplied with engine about 8 years ago...

    bundle of snakes magic-man needed

Adrian and Thomas Edward has it right. Check again with the firing order specified by edward. Every other number in the sequence gives 1467 and 8352. Adrian - you have 8325 which is wrong. But don't be too worried. The original order for real 40s (also copied by many replicas) is also...

    crossover exhaust question

What material to use? Hey Clayton. Don't worry. As far as I can tell 99% of all GT40s and replicas have got it "wrong", so wrong is actually right, as Jac Mac says, if you got it "right" it would probably upset the FIA. I am starting to work out what to do for another attempt at sorting out my...

    crossover exhaust question

I also see in the thread http://www.gt40s.com/forum/gt40-tech-engines-induction-exhaust/35127-2-headers.html another very nice set of pipes which have not followed the old drawing. Again it appears that the order on the right hand bank has been 'corrected' so that they rotate, and the left hand...

    crossover exhaust question

Hi Clayton. Very nice set of pipes, but I am still a little unclear. It appears you swapped both sets of internal crossover pipes to keep symmetry. 6 and 7 have been swapped to fix the right hand bank. So your right hand bank appears to use 1467 which rotates. Fixed from the standard 1476...

    crossover exhaust question

I know it's an old thread but I am really struggling to find a decent set of pictures of a crossover exhaust system which DOES rotate round on BOTH sets of 4 headers. Looking from the back of the car towards the front, most sets I have seen follow the below pattern which as far as I can see...

    Frank Catt Exhaust now fitted.

Hi all. Another small update on the exhaust. I got the car out onto the driveway and did some noise measurements. Frank still has some work to do, but he is already on the case. 0.5m from exit at 45 degrees at 3500rpm we measured 108dB. Needs to be down to around 95dB for most track days...

    Frank Catt Exhaust now fitted.

OK. The starter motor is fixed and works and the car now runs. I have recorded a video but I cannot upload it. It is a MOV file and is less than the 19MB limit. I have converted it to AVI and still cannot upload it. I can upload pictures no problem. Any ideas why I cannot upload movies? Thanks.

    Frank Catt Exhaust now fitted.

Just wanted to post to let you know how pleased I am with the services of Frank Catt. I have a 'slightly' modified 396 engine and am concerned about how to get under the 99dBA noise limit for IVA. I decided Frank's experience of building repackable silencers for GT40 race car's was what I...
