Weismann Transmissions Does anyone have any pictures showing the insides of the old FTA? I’d like to see the gears. Design differences between street and race gearboxes

When dismantling or assembling a street gearbox, why is it that pressing and pulling tools are required to remove/install gear ratios whereas with a race gearbox the gear ratios can be handled without any tools? Please enlighten me.

    Clutch: Pull- or push-type?

Pull- or push-type? For street and occasional track application, which is the better clutch? Look at Porsche - they use pull-type for production cars and push-type for racing. Why's that? Does push-type have a heavier and longer pedal and if so, would a concentric clutch slave help to overcome...

Use a drop gear to lower/raise gearbox?

I recently found out that a gearbox can be lowered or raised relative to the engine by using a drop gear in the bellhousing. Cooper Climax used this in the early '60s. Do you have any experiences with that and if so, are they ok/reliable to use? Any disadvantages? Thanks.

    G50.50/52 hypoid offset?

I have a factory workshop manual for G50-series 911's but, regarding transmission, its technical data unfortunately only reveals information of the smaller crown wheel sized G50s (7.5") of which the hypoid is 16mm, without mentioning anything about Turbo sized ones (9"). So, does anyone know the...

    Opinions wanted on Quaife QTEK

Hello. I'd like to hear your opinions about the Quaife QTEK 6-speed. The pic below shows that, unlike Porsche gearboxes, the side plate is on the left side so the box doesn't have to be inverted for mid-engined configuration. Can be had in either H gate or sequential. Price 7,500 GBP for H gate...
