I am using Avons but I am interested to here comments on these.

Talk about a mess of unintelligible information on that page...

What's soft or hard?

DOT approved or "American Racer Tires are specifically designed and compounded for racing only. They are illegal for street or highway use."

DOT approved means they have been approved for highway use from the gov't Although probably not the best choice but doable. Kinda like some Hoosier R compounds.
