289 weber intake question

So unless I plan on full out racing or am building a blueprint correct replica the single outlet intake is fine. All good info gents! I appreciate the posts.

Highly recommend the manifold with the single outlet and thermostat for a road car - keeps it simple.

Confirmed, IDA manifold does not fit IDF. For your 289, I'd recommend the 44 IDF's. As was said earlier, these are a bit simpler than the IDA's. You can choke them down (or up) as much as you want with the right chokes, and tune the mixture between idle, part throttle and WOT using jetting adjustments. Get a selection of jets, and make sure you're starting with a matched set of 44IDF's. "Matched set" means they have the same progression holes drilled in the bore. You'll know they're matched because the holes will be the same, and the sub-numbering of the IDF will all be the same.

I don't think there is any difference in Weber orientation. However, I believe this water outlet is peculiar to the GT40.

Coming back to this, note that the cobra manifold has the mounting point at the rear for a throttle linkage. This was where the throttle cable entered on the early prototypes - eg GT103 and GT104 in period photos have the throttle cable at the rear of the turkey pan behind #8, not in the middle between 5&6

In the course of looking at prototype photos of early CSX Cobras as well as GT40 - 103 and 104, I have come to realise that the Cobra manifold was available in the same arrangement as the FAV manifold as well as a mirrored/opposed arrangement which positions the fuel fittings on the outside of the turkey pan.

In the case of GT103 and GT104, which I have been look at extensively, they both had the style which positions the fuel intake to the carb on the outside of the pan, not the starboard side intake down the centre.
