A different point of view?

Do I sense anger ? sarcasim ? No wait, I know ... Intolerance! ... the thing liberals always say we need not to do. Just remember human induced Global warming is NOT scientific fact !!!!!!

That should get Chrisl's kinckers in a twist !

Firstly I want to apologies unreservedly if I sounded a little steamed. I'm not really. Sometimes enthusiasm gets the better of me and it can come out sounding that way in print:) I have calmed down now and hopefully I haven’t made too many enemies. I want to state that I have admiration for nearly all those who have posted on this post.

I find it hard to consider myself a "liberal" though. That suggests an ideological bias, but over my lifetime I've voted for the right-aligned parties as much as the left. I believe that I actually sit in the middle as the pendulum swings around me. Fifteen years ago when the pendulum had swung too far left, my friends would have told you that I’m a bit of a radical right. Besides, the type of liberals that you speak of I think are generally anti-progress whereas I'm pro-progress.

Anyway, as far as man-made global warming is concerned, I would have very much agreed with you just a few short years ago, but I'm afraid that it is scientific fact now in as much as any science can be fact. There is actually no real scientific debate going on even though some of the media want you to believe that there is. The evidence is overwhelming. Those experts who tell us that there is a debate are very few in numbers, usually washed up and paid up scientists who have not published any scientific papers in respected science journals for a decade. Don’t take my word for it. Google it and see.

Hey guys, check out GoogleEarth, they've made it look like a ball!

Chris, just because the room is full doesn't mean it isn't empty, if you catch my drift. ;)
Here's something interesting - take the number 5150, add the first two numbers, add the second two numbers, now add the result of calculation 2 to the last digit. Think about who you're dealing with man!
Furthermore, there is no proof that this is NOT fact!
Now THAT's science. hehehe :)

LOL (that should cover it)

Tim.

P.S. You're a sod Pete. ;)

Al Gore Exhales Hot Air at Oscars

Eagle Bridge, NY — March 1, 2007 — On Sunday, February 25, failed presidential candidate Al Gore’s documentary about global warming, An Inconvenient Truth, won an Oscar for best documentary. According to the NY Daily News, fewer than 300 people were eligible to vote in the documentary category for the award. In his movie, Gore claims that production of carbon-dioxide from human energy use will cause devastating changes to the Earth’s atmosphere within 10 years.

On Monday evening, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research reported that Gore’s 20-room mansion in Nashville, TN guzzles nearly 20 times the energy of the average American home, according to records obtained from the Nashville Electric Service. Since An Inconvenient Truth was released, Gore’s home energy consumption has increased by over 13%. Al Gore, who took more than a month to concede his loss to President George W. Bush in the Presidential election of 2000, has spent the past year promoting his film, making frequent use of private jets. One cross-country flight in a private jet produces nearly double the amount of carbon dioxide produced by an average American in an entire year.

William Zachary, Chairman of W Ketchup, reacted: “Liberals are people who like to tell other people what to do, but don’t apply the same standards to themselves. A few days after Speaker Pelosi requested a military jet to fly her 152 miles to the Democratic retreat in Williamsburg, she called for US green house gas emissions to be cut in half. Now we have Al Gore telling Americans to reduce their energy use, while increasing his own. We look forward to Gore’s movie on Global Cooling, due out as soon as trendy scientists change their mind about the weather, again.”

Last week, acting Cuban Tyrant Raul Castro recognized the efforts of former Vice-President Gore to the Union of Young Communists newspaper. Experts observed it is rare for Cuba to officially praise American politicians. Gore’s movie was shown on Cubans official television channel, the only channel permitted by the Communist dictatorship.

Great post Pete.

I thought I lost you to the dark side for a moment.

Al Gore ... Hipocracy personified !

From what I understand Gore charters a G-V, and let me tell you from experience those two Roll Royce/BMW Turbofans have an enormous fuel flow at any power setting...its no Lear jet !

What’s that I see? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz is that Pete's fishing line trying to hook me yet again? Haha, you think I’m so stupid that I will ... Damn! Got me! Reeling me in again you $_d ;)

Al Gore said that he paid to be in a scheme whereby enough trees are planted for his lifestyle to be carbon neutral didn't he? If he did then that's acceptable I would have thought.

Actually I don’t believe that there is anything wrong with using oil right now. Of course we all do it all the time. We have an oil based economy so we will have to live with it as long as there is no other alternative, but that’s the point. Each economy was built by the previous economy. First we had man power (person power?) and we used that to build an economy based on beasts-of-burden. We then used the beasts to help us build the steam powered economy, and then used the steam powered economy to build the oil based economy. We will eventually (like it or not) use the oil based economy to build the next economy. But the least painful time to do it is while oil is cheap (now) and before we do too much damage (also now)… and like it or not, it has started.

PS. And our GT40s and other historic classics will still be running on oil (or bio-fuel or whatever) without fear of any real damage to the atmosphere because there will be so few of them.

So basically its OK for the wealthy to burn all the fossil fuel they want and its OK right ? I must be missing something, I thought the first step in being "Envirnonmentally Friendly" was to REDUCE, then re-use, re-cycle.

More hipocracy from America's left......................

Chrisl, I think you are also very talented when it comes to fishing.;)

Scott, hypocrisy is not confined exclusively to the left. IMHO most if not all politicians are hypocrites and liars.
Q. How do you know when a politician is telling lies?

A. When he has his mouth open.:dead:

A Bus Load Of Politicians Crashes
A bus load of politicians were driving down a country road, when the bus ran off the road and crashed into a tree in an old farmer's field. The old farmer, after seeing what happened, went over to investigate. A few days later, the local sheriff came out looking for the missing politicos, saw the crashed bus, and asked the farmer where all the politicians had gone.
The farmer said, "I buried 'em all... out back."
The sheriff then asked, "Were they ALL dead?"
The old farmer replied, "Well, some of them said they weren't, but you know how them politicians lie.

We are heading of topic, sorry I'll try and get back to some green issues next post. I know you love em Chris;)

Not sure you quite read my whole post Scott. I actually said that it was OK for anyone to burn fossil fuel. Read it again. And I'm not sure that I understand your reason for trying to turn this into a political or class discussion. It’s not either. It’s a science discussion.

I read the last post. The carbon credit scheme ALGORE is involved with is crap. You better believe we are going to burn oil, thats ALL we are going to do until its econmically feasable to do otherwise. No other source of power yet dicovered is so cost efficient.

I'm not making this into a political or class discussion the left is, and certainly the science is suspect. Ooooooo... the UN agreed on climate change, so what, most Americans would probably like to see the UN leave our shores. Thats their game man, make us feel guilty for our prosperity, slowly devolve western culture and blame America, make everyone = , CONTROL, Secular Humanisim. I will concede that for whatever reason the Earth's mean temp. IS warming, but I won't believe for a minute that we are soley responsible for this. Still many distiguished scientists & climatologists disagree on the subject. I heard on the news the other night that the sun is currently burning hotter and may be responsible for the majority of the Earths warming.....no joke.

Maybe we can respectfully agree to disagree ?

What I really am interested in are the projected maps of the "NEW" shoreline in the USA's east coast, you know once the ice caps are gone. I figure I should buy now for a great deal on waterfront property

Satan

You know what Scott? You're right. Extremely. ;)

Given where "the right" has gone I guess those that argue against them are what's left. Still somewhere around the centre though I'd have thought eh Chris? :)

Ahhhhh riiiiight. That's what it is. The sun is burning hotter. Of course. Why didn't I see it before? Thank you so much for sharing that very astute and analytical observation with us Scott.

Did anyone else watch the science program Catalyst on ABC TV today? They showcased a new technology in solar cells (called sliver cells) that are so cheap to manufacture that they will produce electricity cheaper than you can get it from the grid.

PS. Bet their ecstatic that the sun is burning hotter today… sorry couldn’t resist.
