A flavour of Silverstone Classic 2016

A few pics from the 2016 Silverstone Classic to give a general idea of the event. There were so many cars there it's hard to keep it to these few. Some great racing and the noise and spectacle of the 32 Historic F1 cars. The Can Am cars - the growl of the McLaren M8s and the shrill shriek of the Matras is still ringing in my ears. Good sunny weather as well.

Question: Why do the big block M8s have different length inlet trumpets? I was always told that it was to keep inlet tracts the same length but not so. Because they suck in so much air, if they were the same length they would rob the next trumpet of air.

Hi Jimmy,
You are right. We had 12 Pipers on the stand which equals the all time record. There are about 20 on the road in the UK so a big effort by the guys. The white car on the stand has just been restored by Bill Atkinson who built these cars back in the day. The lime green car won an award from the organisers for the classic car in the longest term ownership. So a good event for the Pipers.
