Hi. First post on this forum but I have been a long time follower. I have finally decided to build an SLC! I have long desired to do so but didn't have the garage space, so last month I bit the bullet and hired a contractor to enlarge my garage (my SLC build cost is $21k before I have even started).
I visited the RCR shop last fall and was impressed with the whole operation.
However, before I pull the trigger with Fran, I thought I would ping the SLC community and query if there is anyone out there who maybe has had a change of circumstances and would like to sell their SLC project? I am not looking for a completed car.

FWIW. I'll give you my $.02 even though no one asked for it....

I tend not to take on other people's "projects" for a multitude of reasons. Unless the price is so unbelievable, I'd be stupid not to take it.

To me it boils down to, are you getting a good enough 'deal' to go back and fix or correct the previous persons mistakes/ideas?

Not that others necessary do shoddy work (sometimes they do, sometimes I do), to me it's sometimes more complicated to go back and verify someone elses work or worse, go back and fix their work. It gets awfully dicey when I've been sitting there trying to figure out what the last guy was trying to do when i throw my hands in the air and just start over.

Howdy Eric. All good points. I guess my (faint) hope was that there is a kit out there that isn't too far along that someone is ready to bail on. I do hear what you are saying.

Paul, in what part of Houston are you located? I've lived in and around Houston for the past 31 years, and it would be good to know someone who is working on an SLC kit in the area. I have been thinking about either the SLC or a RCR40, but the amount of fab work they each seem to take is holding me back at this point. I'll be following your thread and hope to get the chance to talk to you in person some time about your build.

Trying to decide if the amount of fabrication (which is something about which I have virtually NO experience) would make the project beyond my capabilities.

Doug, You don't have to weld anything unless you feel the urge to change something. You really don't need to change the bodywork either, meaning very little fiberglass work if any.

So fabrication can be almost nothing or IF YOU WANT TO, do it all yourself. Why don't you send me a PM and if you like a Ph # and we can talk.

In any case. These cars are for people who like to do things with their hands and think a bit. That doesn't mean you need a lot of special training or ability's, just a willingness to learn some basic skills. In the end everything you will need to know is here on this forum for the asking. It's all a post or two away.

And, I'll be moving to the San Antonio area late this year or early next so we can be SLC buddies!

Just do it, you only live once. Don't wait too long......................

There's a hell of a lot of fabrication. If you want the body to actually fit, there's some fiberglass work too...

Hi Paul, sent you an email and you can give me a call if you'd like to discuss all the ins and outs of a SLC build. One of the exciting parts of building a SL-C is that there can be no fabrication or body work if you'd like or major stuff if you want it highly specialized.
