advice on tyre size

hello people in my computer, what size tyre would go on the rear of a mk2 on 10x16? (and i was a tyre fitter for years!!):huh:

Nobody has made 16-inch tires since forever. 17-inch and higher are easy to find, and there are a handful of good choices in 15-inch.

BFG made a 275/50-16 for a long time, although I don't know if it's still available. It was a pretty crappy tire, but if you're committed to using a 16-inch wheel, you may not have any choice....

Just checked www.tirerack.com; that BFG tire is available in a 295/50-16, which would be just about perfect. It's a fairly low-quality hot-rod tire, only S speed rated (2 hours continuous running at 112 mph), but it will at least do a good job of keeping the rim off the ground. :laugh:
