Alternator belt question

Hi, my alternator has stopped working, I'm in the process of removing it and I have a question.

The motor is a Roush 342R, there is only one serpintine belt, turning the alternator, AC pump, water pump and two idler pulleys.

I disconected the battery and the wire at the back of the alt. Then I pulled the two bolts that holds the Alt in place. Now I need to loosen the belt tensioner.

One of the idler pulleys has a large center bolt with a smaller bolt that is slightly offset.

I'm guessing that this is the tensioner, but I dont want to loosen it untill I know how it works and how to re-tension it when I'm done.

Does anybody have any experiance with this type of belt tensioner?

Jim, isn't the belt tensioner spring loaded?
If not, at least the one I have on my car, you loosen the bolt in the center of the pulley and then the tension screw on top.

Thanks Pat,

I was able to speak to the guy who does the Engine installs for Hillbank, he gave me the info I needed.

Let us know what hotel you will be staying at for the Rolex, I'll try and get a room as well.
