AN fittings/ proper connection proceedure?

Good advice Howard, especially on the Russell fittings. Have had them fail. Never had a failure with Aeroquip. Use Aeroquip solid fittings on fuel & oil systems. Only
for breathers, vent lines, etc. would I use anything else in combination with swivel fittings, usually Earls and they have worked well for me. I do like those summit hose cutters though.

Just an FYI -

Russell is owned by Edelbrock
Earls is owned by Holley
Holley is in Bankruptcy (again) from what I read recently.

I've had quality problems with both (cracking primarily). Tried XRP and found their swivel fittings to be too stiff and when taking a line apart that I had just assembled with a new end, the fitting galled. I use lubricant on all threads. Maybe a soft batch that was not properly anodized - ((maybe)) - but I won't chance it anymore..
