Any UK builders on the forum?

I have a question, and would appreciate some advice.
I have a small extension on my house. It was built a couple of years ago but due to other commitments, left unfinished on the inside.
The floor slab has been poured over a DPM and insulation but the floor needs a final screed (about 4 inches)
Some studwork for walls needs to be completed and the external blockwork walls need lining with plasterboard.
Do I do this BEFORE I get it screeded or after?
I've had two screeders round to quote and they've advised me both ways!!!!!
Any advice much appreciated.
Simon

ps, what to I do about running heating pipes and water pipes under the floor?

Hi Simon

I don't think it makes that much differance. On a recent extension I completed, the final screed when down over the underfloor heating. Then the walls were plastered out.
If it is done the otherway, any internal studwork will have better location in the floor.
You do need to think what will be buried in the final screed before it is laid

Hope this helps

Andy

HI Simon,

You can screed before or after, both ways are fine. On extensions that I have had, it has been done both ways, with no difference in final quality.

Cheers,

Graham.

Also, It's not recommended to run pipes under the floor, unless they are for underfloor heating. Usually they should be run through the void in the ceiling, and then hidden behind plasterboard as they run down the wall to radiators / sinks etc...

Graham.
