Any UK, or Anglophiles get the supreme irony of this statement? And I Mean Supreme!

Another example of how the world's gone nuts.

Exactly when did the long-recognized custom of immigrants adapting/conforming to/accepting the language and cultural ways of their adopted country suddenly get reversed? How is it that THEY are now telling the govts (and citizens) of their adoptive countries just how things are going to be?

'Lunacy...

The extreme irony, of course, is that that Blunkett chap was part of the Blair Government responsible for opening the floodgates for these "economic migrants"

It's on their heads, and although a week is a long time in politics, we should never forget the social and economic damage that asshole brought upon us with his damned Big Government, then quit of course, as soon as the storm clouds gathered.

Worth over £50 million now. Beggars belief.

Supremely ugly wife.

Total disaster.

Well with $50 mill he can forget the ugly wife and get a very good looking mistress.
It is ironic, but also a huge problem, which I can't think of a solution other than send them back home. Or at least close the borders and don't let any more in.

Blunket only requires the feelgood qualities in a woman :) Its worse than you can imagine Pete, these people are completely lawless and are targeted by the underworld to drug run , steal and murder. They really are the scum of the earth and are not here to contribute anything good.

+1 on that one Bob.

Do you mean the 'scent' is no longer enough for Blunkett?

Re: Any UK, or Anglophiles get the supreme irony of this statement? And I Mean Suprem

It's beyond irony. IF 'we' get it, why don't others? If others DO get it, why does this shit keep happening? Why do we keep allowing these utter morons to run our governments. Are there really no decent, honest people in government? I know, we all class them all as deceitful liars, but really? There must be some people who go into it for the right reasons?

WHAT AM I SAYING? AM I LOSING MY MIND? SOMEBODY JUST SHOOT ME AND BE DONE WITH IT!

The entire human race deserves everything it gets.

Keith, I completely missed your case of irony......
I was thinking more along the lines of....

Blunkett is a ' Socialist ' politician

And going back some years now, we were warned of this problem my a certain
' fascist ' politican, no other than Enoch Powell.

Who was widely and roundly condemned for his similar opinion...

As a bystander, it's funny how the worm turns.

I hadn't forgotten Enoch and his much misquoted and misunderstood epitaph but in order to keep Google from overheating, chose not to use it as an example, after all it was well over 50 years ago. He was a very intellectual man in the same vein as (but diametrically opposed to) Wedgewood Benn. I admired them both for their towering intellects, although Benn is clearly, and somewhat endearingly, barking mad.

As for 'missing the irony,' are you sure you're not American?

True, a second tier irony if you will, but that would mean admitting that the somewhat myopic followers, were, us. :worried:
