Bailey Edwards Cars.

I called them and spoke with Tanya. She said she would send me information, but never did. That was just before Christmas.

If I am not mistaken, Robin used to post on the UK GT40 forum...I didn't realize he'd gone into the business. If they are actually up and running...

They also got a hold of the url below. IMO, after reorginazation, the url should have gone to AutoFutura. Unfortunately, by BE doing this, I believe he is hoping(?) to profit from the hard work & reputation that CAV RSA & CAV USA (e.g., Bob Lacy) developed. Why not do what they did & start fresh with their repuation? Kind of sad. Ian did a good job of sorting the confusion out. Easy to do if you've done your homework and/or own a CAV, be it an original 1st generation, or an AutoFutura CAV. Still questions? Post away, we'll get them answered for you. Don't be shy about donating to the forum. Do it often & frequently!!!

The Bailey Edwards car sounds great on paper and shows well in pictures. It will be interesting to see what real world experiences some of you have while shopping! It is interesting to note that there have been a couple of occasions that guys have mentioned talking to "Tanya" at Bailey Edwards. Didn't Bob Lacey have a partner at CAV by that name? Could explain the easy and quick pirating of the CAV web name.

This has been explained earlier, but in summary. California Advanced Vehicles was the sole US inporter to the South African made CAV GT. However they were totally seperate companies (one manufacturer, one US importer). About the time that CAV (from SA) liquidated and was bought by new owners (Auto Futura), Bob and Margot split from his other investor (Tanya?) and as a part of the settlement agreement Bob would not sell GT40's for a period of several years and Tanya(?) would retain rights to California Advanced Vehicles company and thus name. She is obviously now trying to import another vehicle and sell it under the "CAV" name, but it has no connection to the original CAV GT nor Auto Futura.

I too have received email from Tanya about their cars. It appears to be a space frame GT40 that looks to my untrained eye to be a GTD for all intensive purposes. Price for the car at $65k as a roller is I suppose in the ballpark.

According to a rapid response by e-mail from Tanya, Gary's response is correct. I have not checked out the pricing but the package does look interesting. I will wait until I see a finished unit before I pass judgement on the car itself. As far as calling it a Bailey Edwards or a CAV,,I don't have any confusion, as I have only seen the car refered to as a Bailey Edwards sold by Calif. Advanced Vehicles. If the rapid response I received is any indication of how they will run there business, it is a good start! Being a space frame doesn't bother me. I prefer them. The price will be important, as competetion is getting tougher!
