best value????

Hi everyone, Im looking for a good value in a gt 40 kit. I like the thought of a "targa" roof because I am 6'2" an don't like to be too crowded I guess but it doesn't matter too much. I've built a few kits now and know alot about some of the concerns but I have approx. $35,000 to spend on the kit with about $25,000 to finish it. What do you guys think is my best bet and does anyone have any info on John Donelly from gt 3 ( good or bad )
thanks aloy fellas

Best value is a relative term. You need to decide what kind of kit you want. Do you want a Fiero conversion or do you want a properly done, high quality kit that you can complete?
I am the US dealer for Roaring Forties. RF is a very high quality kit with a comprehensive assembly manual. We do offer the kits in several levels. Feel free to e-mail your address and I would be happy to send you out an information packet. Or you can call me at 480-446-8442.

With a $ 60k budget you shouldn't have any trouble finding/finishing a nice GT40 kit.

Regarding your Targa reference.
The GT40 coupe is not for the claustrophobic.
If you need open air, the coupe may be a problem. No one actively sells a GT40
"spyder" that I know of.
Tornado does offer removable roof panels,
but I've never seen them in person.

John Donnelly has a reputation
as a good craftsman, but he's apparently
having financial issues bringing his
roadster to market. Status unknown.

Another option if you feel adventurous
is to build your own spider using a
genuine spyder windshield and frame
from Fran Kress.

Since modern GT40 replicas have air conditioning, a closed car isn't all bad.
But certainly sit in one before you
make the plunge. It is tight!

Gordon forgot to mention he's about your height and thr RF can fit him fairly well.
I know of others in the 6'+ region that
have had GTDs modified with lowered floor
panels to allow them to fit, albeit snugly.
Ask Bud Jones - he helped set up a GTD for
Rick Merz this way.

Ian, To expand on your comments. I am 6'3" and built like a line backer. I fit comfortably in the standard RF. The RF with the drop floor is very roomy.

There was a thread a while back about a spyder built by Fran Kress with photos. I would suggest looking at that.
