Bigger IS Always better . . .

That is amazing! One hell of a cash outlay for that company. That's quite a statement. I'm going to look into Acuity to see what type of insurance they carry.

If you think that is an acheivement, check out what we built for the US Navy in Scotland.
Holy Loch. Still in service today and designed by UK Engineers to survive a direct surface hit by a hydrogen bomb.
As the service pens are so deep under the ground ( granite ) it helped. I am told, there is over 40 Million cubic metres of concrete in the construction, naturally incorporating reinforcement. The sitecovers the 7 pens, workshop facilities, accomodation, a comprehensive hospital and satellite tunnels running some several miles.
The reinforcement was based on the ' HenkBar ', used by the Germans in the construction of the roofs of their U Boat Pens in WW2, on the coast of France.
The diameter of that bar is as fat as a fat boy's arm...
These were finally breached by ' Tall Boy ' and similar bombs delivered by
Lancaster bombers. US aircraft could not carry anywhere near the payload required.
Now, as to the function of this facility.
It was designed from the outset, to facilitate nuke submarines approaching it underwater, entering the pens, being serviced and replenished and returning to a patrol, never having broken the surface. So therefore, the Warsaw Pact, at the time, could not notice and track them.
One of the senior Engineers on that project, moved on to work on London's Post Office Tower and was solely responsible for the massive , massive concrete test beds for Concorde's Olympus engines..
Holy Loch apparently was recreated on the US east cost.

You know, with a flag that big, it's a damn shame someone hasn't put a used car lot there. Or, at the very least, a Home Depot. I mean, c'mon, guys.

I think the company is making a statement, they don't seem to be apologizing for America, I think they may be proud of America. That's in short supply lately.

Home for runaway girls - oh, maybe not, too many STDs. Museum for old broken-down high mileage GT40s. Home for aged and forgetful GT40 owners.
