Hello Andy

well done on your carbon chassis project!
i know the challenges first hand.
is it a Pre preg carbon fibre that you used?
And what weight saving did you achieve versus a standard steel chassis?
did you use any anti splittering kevar in the structure?
Regards
greg

Greg

Thanks.

It is Pre Preg Carbon.

Weight saving over a standard chassis is approx 149 kgs or 327 lbs.

Thanks

We are now using a higher spec core on all of the Carbon Fibre monocoque chassis.

The foil used is a higher spec with a smaller cell size resulting in reduced weight with increased strength.

The additional weight saving on the tub is 8.2 Kgs or 18.02 Lbs.

Thanks

Andy

We have now introduced a full carbon panel kit to go with the Carbon chassis.

This kit includes the rear bulkhead, gearlinkage cover and all inspection hatches.

Thanks

A recently completed Tornado TSC GT40 with a Carbon Fibre Monocoque chassis by forum member Abraham Brisco and now IVA approved.

Build time was approx 12 months using a Super Pro Package with all parts supplied.

Specification includes Coyote engine, Gulf rear arches with 12" wide rear wheels, A/C, Alloy shocks, Alloy rear uprights and glass rear windows plus lots more.

Car has now gone to paint and no doubt Abraham will post some pictures on his build thread when its finally done.

Thanks

Andy

Here is a link to Scotts Tornado TSC GT40 Carbon Mono build thread.

Hi Andy,
I just read through the thread, a ways back you mentioned that a carbon chassis single seater and sports racer were in the works, pretty cool. Did those make it to market?

Mesa

The single seater was a personal project and is still on going.

The sports racer is on the back burner as we are so busy making cars for customers at the moment.

Thanks

Andy
