Castor, camber and Toe ?

HI guys,

Bearing in mind that my '40 will only see road use, and the very occasional track day, what should I aim for on Castor, Camber and Toe in ?

Front

Castor = 5%
Camber = -1%
Toe in = 0.5%

and the same for the rear.

Do these numbers look sensible to you guys?

Thanks for you help :thumbsup:

Graham.

Graham to get a degree symbol ° hold down alt and type 2, 4, 8, and when you lift off alt voila. If indeed you did mean degrees your numbers are sensible for camber and castor but I use mm for toe eg 1-2mm toe in, not sure how that equates to degrees.

RCR should supply you with the factory settings as to what works best for their design. That should be your starting point and then to alter as to what suits your preferences when you know what they are.

Your castor is within a typical range used for castor. Your camber could be ok at the front but maybe too high for a wide rear tyre? And I agree with Ross about using mm for measuring toe. At the least ensure you don't have toe out! KPI tends to be set by the factory in the production of its uprights so chances are you have what you have.

Interesting thread this as I've just completed my build. I took the car to a local 'motorsport specialist' yesterday to get it set up because it is handling like a bag of jelly when I drove it around the block for the first time.

The guy was completely confused as to what car to base it on on his computer system. After much debate we gave up because we found a defective balljoint, but when I go back I will need to give him some settings to work from.......

My back end is not adjustable (I might rectify this later), and my front end is not adjustable for camber, so if I go for what is listed above :

Toe-in - 0.5deg (how many mm is this?)
Camber - 1deg

Would this be OK? The car is a scratchbuild chassis, so I have no factory settings to work from. Can anyone give me a rough idea on the front toe in mm? I am running 205x15" wheels at the front.

This is all new to me......my goal is just to achieve a good handling road car.

The GTD build manual states
1.6 - 3.2 mm overall toe in at the front.
0 - 1.6mm overall rear
15" wheels

Cheers
Mike
