Clarkson returns GT

So as far as Clarkson is concerned Ford stands for Fix or Repair Daily!

Bit of a bad rap for the car though!

Ian

Hold it...he returned the car because it had a crappy after-market alarm system? Then he bitches about Ford? And he's given and Aston Martin DB9 to drive around in while he claims in the next sentence that he's never profited from his position as an automotive journalist?

What's that term you Brits have for guys like Clarkson? A wanker? I believe the American term is "asshole."

Guess he won't want to read the Observer then...

The journalist there has managed to get one of the 28, in black. He has had no problems. You wonder if karma is working early for those comments he made about the club members' cars /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

If he had kept the car,it would not be news. Nothing wrong with a bit of serious self promotion.

Yesterday I banged off a quick email to The Editor of The Times about Clarkson and his GT, and included Mark W's comments (good post Mark). They've just written back to say they're publishing part of it (I guess it may end up as a one-liner).

It will be interesting to see if Clarkson replies ...

Cheers

If it's a one-liner Rob - let's hope its Mark's last sentence.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice post, Suzanne Tosh got it right. One problem and the man lets go of a "35 year old dream"? My suggestion is his "dream" was nothing more than a passing fancy and he's now on to the next thing. If he is go interested in a GT40, then maybe he should have a replica instead of a Ford GT? Any of the manufactuers here want to have a go at building a car to make him happy???

Now, on this site, there are some folks who understand the meaning of dreams and work to acheive them.

Some dream huh? An electronic alarm did it for him.

I wonder what would have happened if he'd had a real GT40 or well done GT40 replica - noise, leaks, vibration, slot car handling, blinding acceleration, etc. - I suppose he could only take it an hour huh?

i saw the episode when he gets his ford gt(in Italy top gear episodes arrives always in late..)
If that was really his dream car,as for me is also the ugliest replica...he will never regive it back.
I think this is just show.

I think anyone who is any sort of car enthusiast will now understand where Mr.Clarkson is coming from and it is heartening to know that he is above reproach. And that any member of the public returning their faulty Ford will automatically qualify for a free DB9.
Having just enjoyed a quick blast in a GT, you would have to drag the car out of my cold dead fingers before it went back to Ford!! But it is a pity that (as ever) the car is compromised by cheap and nasty interior fittings that will not last, as seems to be the case on another thread. And where did they find those sun-visors - out of a Lada? Fords press car will be returning to the UK on Sunday after a European tour and it will be interesting to see what fell off.

Why did they not give Mr clarkson the car of his dreams? The one he fits perfectly! The one they gave him as a courtesy car in the first place.
The Ford Focus Estate!!!!
