Converting a GT40 into a Dino 206SP

Re: German GT40 interpretation

I am thinking about adding a nice feature line to the speedster, it goes from front fender to the rear fender, and the b-pillar and upper rear vents are moved more inboard towards the seats.
The original GT40 has a wide greenhouse, a speedster design could have a narrower windshield and it could be nicer if it would not have that much space between headrests and b-pillars... What do you think?

Re: German GT40 interpretation

how about a Mirage Windscreen?

Mirage

Ian

Very good! I actually thought about making the whole rear end a Mirage style design...it looks good in 3D but I am afraid of the amount of fiberglass work! ;-)

Or just a simple rollbar design...that will make it a real racecar...

Re: German GT40 interpretation

Made the doors fit yesterday! My good, the whole body was out of alignment and very asymmetrical, took me a while to get everything aligned...I ended up in lifting the rocker panels and body half an inch to the frame. Very unusual idea of lowering the seating position.. ;-)

Still don't know if I should keep the original rear end or modify it with a rollbar-design...but there is still a lot of other work to do, so I'll shift this decision to the near future...may be I wake up one morning and know which way to go ;-)

Tires are Vredestein Sessanta 315/35-17 and 235/40-17

Re: German GT40 interpretation

I built a mock-up for the windscreen, quite similar to the original GT roadster with the upright a-pillars and must say it looks quite good, the pictures doesn't judge...it could be the way to go!

Now torn between different ideas for b-pillar/rear end, here comes another idea.
Why not keeping the original GT40 design, but slightly modify it with a narrower b-pillar. Keep clicking pic 2 and 3, you can see the difference. This could also be the way to go because it is very close to the stock rear-end.

Re: German GT40 interpretation

New pics, and an interesting comparison between my project and some iconic sportscars.
A lot of modification needs to be done for the roadster screen and its frame integration...

Re: German GT40 interpretation

Another wild idea for my Roadster...must say I like it, with moving the side vents to the lower panels I do not really miss them in the center body, and the original Roadster did not have them too!

Re: German GT40 interpretation

Das sieht doch mal gut aus.

Bloß keine zu großen Räder, 15er BRMs wären perfekt.
