Daytona!

Do not forget, the Daytona 24 hours is this Sat/Sun, shown on Speed.

I know the cars are ugly and no Audi, Peugots, but it still is history in the making. I'll spend the day and night in front of the TV.:thumbsup:

Ron and I ran there in August of 2008. Absolutely positively a blast. The road/oval course is just fantastic.

Can't wait to go back, hopefully this year.

Daytona is awesome! Only raced there once, the 95 Daytona 200. Fogarty, Corser, Edwards, Spencer, Gobert, Russell, Merkel, Polen were in attendance. It was all I could do to keep from asking for autographs in the riders meeting. I was there in a banner year, great experience but way too expensive to get there and run from California.

Coming off the banking at speed the pavement in turn one looks no wider than the sidewalk in front of your house!

SCCA Regional race, August 2008. Two 30 minute sprint races. The entry from the banking to 1 is cool, but the best part was the busstop chicane on the back straight. A hard left, right, right, left at about 100 mph.

What about the fast left hander after international horseshoe? Flat out in 3rd, about 130mph in my car. Everytime I go through there it's a thrill.
I can't wait to see what the new track surface is like.

It's flat in an IT car but maybe 105-110 mph? Kind of a non event for us really.

The busstop and the entry to turn one are the two hold your breath places in an IT car.

Not to worry... I have been there a few times over the last several years and tickets are always available. I usually get an infield ticket and then pay extra for the hot pit pass for access before and during the race.
