Dynatech turndowns

Has anyone tried Dynatech "baffled" turndowns?
They do not produce any backpressure at all, due to the holes in the cone shaped baffle having a larger surface area than the diameter of the exhaust pipe. They slip over the end of the exhaust pipe, and be clamped, bolted or welded.
Unfortunately, there are no db reduction figures on their
website. I may try them, as my car is due for inspection.
If I do, I'll post the results.

According to Dynatech, these baffled turndowns reduce db output by 1-3dbs,
depending on engine, length of exhaust, mufflers, etc.
They just might get somebody past RTA, SVA, or DMV.
The cone shaped baffles are also available separately as inserts.

It appears that products like the Dynatech and Car Chemistry inserts offer a nominal amount of damping. The UK boys seem to have invested a lot of time in their silencer designs to meet track DB requirements. I found a good set of turndowns dramatically change the impression of how loud the car is without actually adding additional muffling. I have the Car Chemistry inserts, which I use for DMV purposes (along with copious amounts of S.S. wool).
I pulled them out right in the DMV parking lot, after the
inspection, as I don't like the backpressure or the noise. The DMV guys never blinked an eye! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
The Dynatech turndowns interest me, because with the lack of backpressure, the noise shouldn't change for the worse.

I wanted to revive this subject as it it has been some time now since it was raised.

Has anyone installed or further tested the dynatech cone / turndowns and can verify if they are worth installing to take the edge off a pair of 3" diameter straight thru resinators?

I just wanted some feedback before ordering a set to be sent "down under"

For what it is worth, I put a pair of Dynatach cones on the side pipes of my Cobra 427FE. Measured 95 db at 50 feet without and 95 db at 50 feet with. No discernable difference. In fairness to Dynatech, the recommend putting them at the collector, not the end of the pipe. The turn down might make a difference in perceived sound, but the cone won't.
