Discussion on the local radio that it should become a public holiday
Yes it should

But then Scotland should also have a similar public holiday
And Wales
And Ireland
I vote for 4 more public holidays

After all we are the United Kingdom

A well to do GT40 owning man such as yourself can surely take as much time off as he needs Ian. :)

Anyway, this is very interesting.

Bit of a lad was our St George...

BBC News - Why St George is a Palestinian hero

Bit more supporting information for you Colonel

There are three Icons of St George in a Greek Orthadox abbey in Northern Cyprus. St George was a Palestinan man, son to a Greek Christian and Palestinian Christian who served in the Roman Legion towards the end of the 3rd century. His importance to England stems from the Crusades rather than any actual connection with the country. This was as a symbol of devontion to him, that is why other nations historically have also used the St George's flag, such as Genoa and Georgia.
