What do most people use that is avalable in Aus (Holden,Ford etc) going to use Escort or Cortina rack, also must pass DPI Licencing, does any body have an idea what the alloy ones would cost and will they pass lic, I have not started on my control arms yet Cheers Ray

Hi we can supply alloy gt40 uprights, (Classic Car Developments ltd) the cortina/ escort rack are rear mounted not front so if in original configeration when you turn left you will go right, also the ratio is quite slow
try for a MGB rack, many have used them

Time you had a look at an escort/cortina rack John, Both mount in front of the front axle line for RHD. For Ray in Aussie the rack from any Torana/Gemini can be used as a donor as well---Gemini-some models have a full alloy housing that looks the part, probably plenty of others that can fit as well. Personally I like the CF Bedford Rack ( You had them in Aust in the 70's ) & just shorten it for my purpose with steering arms to make the ratio I require.

Have used the gemini rack in super 7's and works very well what price are the alloy up rights and what ball jiont do you use Cheers Ray

Just to keep things interesting, If you can get hold of an Escort quick rack, idealy just the pinion, you can get a new shaft cut for a very reasonable price ( $140.00) and have it what ever length you need. I threaded modern Mazda / Holden tie rods to the end as these come in many different length`s. The body of the rack was a simple cut and braze in a tube spacer that slip`s nicely over the old tube. Really neat.
Then you end up with a 2.5 turn rack.
