Addition Number 21 is chassis P/1109 based on TYE 99M number plate. Car built on spare MKIII chassis tub in 1971 Why does number 41 the winning Gelscoe GEL 007 have GUN 805D the registration plate from P/1021 on it? Is it actually P/1021???
Regards Allan

Thank you about that chassis list. And also from the images and videos!
I was there also, fantastic to see that chicane video, I was that part of the track also.

Alan,

Last I saw 1021 was in the Miller collection and does look different from GEL007. Picture attached.

By the way anyone know what has happened to the Miller cars with the closure and sale challenges around Miller Motorsports Park?

Dave

For #18 1965 Ford GT40 Hugenholtz, what is the origin of the id "AJL 9883" ?[/QUOTE]

Hi,

None! If you look closely at Dave's photograph it reads AJL988G

First time I've seen a registration number (licence plate number) on a chassis plate !

Hans Hugenholtz usual car is the blue GT40P/1062,
so is this another 'new car' ?

Regards Steve

For reference a UK xxxxxxG registration would of been issued during (or after as an age related plate) 1st August 1968 and 31st July 1969.

Steve,

Well spotted obviously the visual illusion made my brain see what it expected to see. I assume this is not 1062 as that was advertised for sale last year still in Blue and RMD have it listed as sold.

Dave

Dave,
Here are a few pics taken of 1021 at the Shelby-American Museum in Boulder, CO. It was on display during the 2011-2013 time period, which is when I took these and several more documentation pics. It was the inspiration behind my build....same color, too.

Hello Dave,

You did all the hard work !
I'm just chipping in with the odd extra bit.

As the value of these cars increases we see more & more 'continuation types' & 'recreations'.
I know feelings are mixed but the logic of it is plain to see. The million pound plus car sits at home or is sold, while the £300,000 one races.

We saw a few strange chassis plates that weekend didn't we.
Surely you're not going to display a registration number on a chassis plate if it's a genuine FAV/JWA GT40 ?

Expect to bump into Sally & your good self again soon !

Steve & Linda

Hi Gentlemen,

Dave Collin's superb RCR Mk2 has just reminded me that there was another GT at the 74th Members Meeting, the Holman Mk2 chassis P201 was there performing course car duties.
(The Ford Heritage Collection pair of GT40s were absent from their usual course car duties this time)

Question for the purists. Would you rather the Gelscoe & SPF cars that are built or brought back to original spec, not be allowed to participate?

Another question for the purists. Exactly how much of these so called "original" cars is original. These things are very old now with mild steel sheet chassis. They are like grandad's broom. It's had three new heads and 5 new handles but it's still grandad's broom! I suspect that the only bits that are original are the chassis plate and the history file. So how are they different from the Gelscoes and the SPFs? I have looked very carefully at these original cars and everything looks remarkably new to me but of course the owners won't tell you what exactly remains of what was part of the car in the sixties because they have a very strong interest in what the car is worth. But in any material sense I don't see much that is from the car as it raced way back then. Once again it all comes down to money. I remember looking at these cars when they were just old race cars in the seventies and they look a whole lot different now.
Cheers
Mike

Yes this is very much true! It was many times on the track.

Have to ask this chassis list couple of things:

#17 1965 Ford GT40 Wright
#21 1966 Ford GT40 Devis

Is there anything about these two, which chassis these were?
