Greetings from Afghanistan

I've been a lurker on this site for quite sometime and wanted to finally introduce myself.

Throughout the years, I've cut my teeth on several car and aviation-related projects, and since my 20's have kept the Cobra, GT-40, and Pantera GT-S, in my 'bucket list' of all time favorite cars to build or restore. So after a few years of being away from home, then spending 17 months out here, I'm ready to settle down in my garage and lay low for awhile. The GT-40 is next....

Hi Tom!
Welcome to the forum. IMHO the RCR40 is an excellent choice, although I am biased in that regard.

Welcome aboard Tom,

I just finished a five and a half year tour of Bagram and Kandahar so "been there, done that".

I learnt a lot about GT40s from this forum whilst working in Afghanistan.

You will find an abundance of knowledge on this forum as well as extremely helpful and forthcoming people.

Gentlemen,
Appreciate the welcome. I look forward to your ideas, and may even be able to offer a few of my own along the way. I've learned a lot from previous projects, and from this forum. I'd prefer to do a complete build, including paint, however, with the economy the way it is, there may be deals on finished and unfinished cars, so I'll consider that segment also.

Jack,
I may be headed to the Tampa area for work. If so, I'd love to stop by and check the progress of your SL-C. Been following it for awhile.

Andy,
Thanks. Yes, that was my Hotspot. I flew it with a Jetcat P120 turbine before selling it to another flyer in the Aspen area. I believe he's still flying but with an AMT turbine. I have a Mirage 2000, a C-ARF Flash sport jet, and various helicopters to fly around these days. Cool hobby.

TOM,
I think you're the holder of all the wealth of information here. Great build you've got going there.

hoppy,
I've had to travel to your neck of the sand on several occasions, but call FOB Salerno (Rocket City) my home away from home. Thanks for your service and for sticking it out for so long. If you put away your money while out here, you should be retired now..... ;-)
