GT40 build table/frame

I currently have my chassis on axle stands, but would much prefer to have it on a build table/frame that I could maybe wheel around from side to side in the garage.
Before I go ahead and build one, does anyone have any tips to pass on? I'm thinking of having the chassis bottom about 20 - 32 inches off the floor. BIG rubber wheels (lockable)

i used a pair of these from machine mart, moved the chassis around a treat and very stable. mine are now gather rust in the garden, not sure i will need them again, could be willig to part with them for a donation to car fund

I built mine out of Bosch aluminum tubing and aluminum angle for my Lola. It is very sturdy, and moves easy.

Don't have photos here but I use one table with approx the same dimensions you had for height. Polyurethane wheels work nicely as long as they are a fairly hard compound, have decent bearings, and are large enough to overcome small bits on the floor that will stop a small wheel like a chock. Also an afterthought for me was to add levelers so that I could set the table to level both ways, making it easier to make changes or whatever on the chassis. The last two things I can say from experience is get casters with locks on them, and make your table top accessible to clamps so that when you do level and find a good position the chassis won't move as you work.
Hope some of this helps

Simon:

I agree with Phil ,levelers are a big help I have to shim my jig to level it up. A smart level helps with this. Use a heavy gage tubing as the chassis will pull when you start to weld it up. I tack welded some of my chassis to the jig as to hold it more in place. Lots of Clamps a big help also.

Cheers Dave

Thanks chaps, It's not a "build table" as in building the chassis, it's just (just!) putting it together.

I will be starting my own build in a month or two, a roaring forties chassis, and i've thought about a build table too but the question that pops into my mind is how do you get it up and down from the table?
