GTD orginal rear wheels bearing source

One of the rear wheel bearings (LH driver's side on LH drive car) on my GTD is making noise. It needs to be replaced. Are both sides the same bearing?

I found these. Is this the correct bearing for a GTD with original uprights and bearing housings? Does anybody have a source for the complete bearing housing including the installed bearings in case I can't push the bad bearings out of the housing and need to replace the whole thing?

A known-good-bearing part number and source would be helpful as well as the complete housing including bearings. USA source would be beneficial.

Any advice on this would be appreciated. I have a nice hyd press, Thanks in advance.

The GTD rear wheel bearings are Ford Granada Mk3. Bearings are the same both sides but the nuts are handed. I believe Tornado just use the same on both sides.

The large nuts are similar to nyloc nuts and are intended to be used only once. Note that on GTDs the nuts are handed so check you are undoing it and not tightening! They are VERY tight - 200ft.lbs. If I remember correctly the nuts are 41mm. To tighten them I use a 3/4" torque wrench with the wheel on the ground to prevent the wheel from turning. I use an extension resting on an axle stand to keep things in line.
The bearings are not hard to remove once you have the hub disassembled as there is a gap between the the two bearing outers to get a screwdriver or a drift in to tap them out. Heating the hub and freezing the new outers makes fitting the new ones easier.

in this kit I had the lock nuts also, left handed and right handed ....

Ok. I got them all apart replaced the bearing races, reinstalled the bearings, and am ready to reinstall the seals. During the disassembly, I rendered the original seals unusable. On top of that, I can't remember which way around the seals came out. Ya, I should have taken a picture but...........I didn't. Should the open end of the seal be installed in the housing facing the bearing on each side. (Pic 2595) Or the other way around? Pic# 2594. What is the correct orientation?

Also, can anyone suggest the best seal installation driver to buy to do this with? I am having a hard time pressing the seals into the housing. Any good knowledge/advice on this? Is there a difference in seals as it relates to housings? I am trying to use SKF 22032 seal. The ones that came with the bearing were the wrong diameter. They were not from the Burton Power kit.

And.....how deep into the housing should the seal be installed?

Howard, the best advice is to check with the seal manufacturer. There may be applications info on-line from whoever made the seals. Usually the seal is seated in the housing. Unless there is a sealant coating on it already, I put a thin film of Hylomar in the housing bore to prevent leakage in that area. I know, seals are traditionally installed a certain way but there are goofy exceptions.

Ok to confirm and close out this thread, The Burton power Part # BRT 910 is the correct kit for the original GTD as supplied bearing housing. They are the correct bearings, the correct seals, and nuts as well. The seals go back, in the same way, they came out which is.....................wait for it............... Picture 2595 in post #9 above.

I want to say Thanks to Burton Power for a job well done. They had sent me a set of bearings as I mentioned above and one of the seals had a manufacturing flaw that made it unusable. This was not a fault of Burton Power because the kits are supplied to them intact.

I sent them an email explaining the problem and they right away volunteered to put a set of seals into the post and replace the one I had that was bad at no cost to me. I got the seal set yesterday.

This is the way to do business! Well done Burton Power!
