Great Clip Al! It just shows why the Japanese were stupid to take on the USA in '41. No-one could beat that kind of relentless production.

Did people really talk like that> I guess they did, there are quite a few Brit Public Information clips that sound as if the commentator was trying to enunciate with his lips stapled to his cheeks... :)

Keith - that was the common monotone voice adopted by literally every news commentator and anchorman. Seemed to be popular for the day and may have had something to do also with the lack of focused bandwidth for Radio and TV transmissions. Don't really know.. Electronics were still in their infancy back in those days..
