Hi All from Las Vegas NV

My name is Eric, I'm new here and do not currently own a GT 40. When time and money permits I plan to build my own. I do have a Manta montage getting put together right now but my true desire is to build the 40. Hope to learn a lot through this forum as I a have only begun my car hobby within the last 3 years. I'm currently enjoying the projects I have, and anticipating the future ones to come.

Welcome Eric. There are a few 40's in your area I believe which may inspire you even more. A few nice roads too to open her up once completed!

Hi, Eric. You'll learn alot about '40s here. I know I have anyway.

(Along with 1/2 of the rest of the 'car people' in the country, wifey and I plan to be in your 'burg' for SEMA at the end of next month. :chug: )

Welcome to the forum. In addition to info about GT40's, you may also find resouces to help with your current projects. I am interested in learning more about your Manta Montage. I have wanted one since the first time I saw Hardcastle & McCormick as a kid.

I'm not an expert but to my knowledge, the Manta Montage is at least stongly influenced by the styling of the McLaren M6 GT. The Maurader company produced a more acurate reproduction. Both have been out of production for several years.

Thats correct, the Montage was based on the m6gt but not an exact replica. It is a cool looking car in its own right and I have done a few minor body mods to really accentuate the lines and styling. I custom fabricated and fitted new acrylic lenses, and also added some louvers and a spoiler. The rear acrylic glass was also removed and the body was filled to show the contour of the rear body. Some may or may not like what I have done but the great thing about a relatively inexpensive kit car is that I can do whatever I like. I am really considering utilizing a zf transaxle and mating it to a 383 as the car originally came with a porsche 5 speed and 229 v6. It will definitely be quite a fun car to drive with the increased hp and 16-1800 lb curb weight. I am not as mechanically inclined as I would like to be so if anyone has any suggestions or criticisms prior to me picking up a crate 383 I would love to hear them.

Thanks for all the kind welcomes and if I figure out how to post pics I will show off the new paint and bodywork. I hope the moderators dont mind me posting a manta on a gt40 site but if someone can point me in the direction where I can begin a forum on the build I would love to keep those interested in the loop.

Wings, Wheels, and Keels forum seems to be where a few other projects like yours have been set up.

Try the advanced button and then the paperclip etc. to get a picture loaded.
