How to flip a Porsche gear box?

I've got a gear box from a 2010 997 for my SLC and I need to learn what is needed to flip it. It's probably similar to the G50 and I'm sure some of you have done those. Any ideas?

Dean, I'd get some good gloves, and a nice clean part of the garage floor to work with, maybe a little carpet too. Lift under one side or the other, either should be fine, and then gently roll it over onto it's top side.

Dean,
what gearbox is it exactly G96 /90; G96/50, G97/90,

Usually not much is needed for flip those, as Cliff said. I usually like to add a thread into the diffhousing for a tempswitch.
You would have to flip the vent and drain plugs.
Also a take of and return bung for an oil cooler setup would be great. If it is a box with the oil upm already integrated than you would need to adapt the pick up tube to thenew orientation . I would not dare to change the spray tubes, because i think it makes not if a big of an difference if the gears would be sprayed from the top or flushed from below.
Other than that make sure you fill in enough good oil. I´m using SWEPCO 210 and fill at least 5 liter into the box. if it does not spill any of the oil out i fill it even more.

If its the one in your first post --looks like a G96 / 50 AWD?? -- your kit should have come with the adapter plate for this and therefore will only mount one way -- something like this, hey Francis :-

If you haven't already, you'll need to convert it to 2WD.

Why not do the easy, fast and safe thing, which is to send it out to GBox, CMS or a similar shop to have all that done? It's an expensive piece of kit to learn on.

Nice looking box there Dean, not too hard to invert, if you have not already done so. Feel free to give me a call and I walk you through it. Your starter is on the way in and should be out to you here early next week.

Thanks a lot Erik!

Stanley was a big help. He talked me through the process. Check out my build thread in the SLC club house and make sure I did it right. It wouldn't be the first time I've had to do things twice!

That was very well done, and I really enjoy the cap that you made up for that, a touch of humor, I like it. Very well explained and documented, I am sure that this will be quite useful to other builders.
