Joe’s AP MK1 Gt40 build

If you are talking clip locators, contact Flatchat (Chris Hatfield) on here. Top quality parts and quick service was my experience with him. He is currently building me a transaxle adapter to go from a BBC, to a Ford Ricardo. I expect that to be a quality part as well.

Will do, Thanks for info

I reached out to him and he responded back. He sent me info, looks very nice quality. Thank you

What kind of spacing did you end up with around your windshield? Mine seems a little tight, as in less than 1/16” in some spots, more in others. I’m not done fitting it yet though.

I had same issue. I ended up sanding do i had an even 1/8 space all around. I was not crazy about the idea of not having the edge of the windshield protected so I ended up fitting mine to accommodate a rubber trim which in my opinion looks so much better than the raw edge of the windshield.

I’ve done a fare amount of research on grinding the edge of the windshield as well. Doesn’t seem like it is as complicated as most make it. Most glass guys just take a 40 grit grinder to it!
Glad to see you’re back at it. AP builds seem to be few and far between!

Yes, I know someone who sanded their windshield. I was not too crazy about that. I figured the fiberglass was easier than it was thick in that area.Feels good to finally be back working on it.took time off to build my wife a weekend car she wanted and then from there my father-in-law got sick so I had to help my in-laws and now that that’s all better. I have my time back.

I can’t remember if you ever mentioned which Wilwoods you were using, and if spacers were Nero on the front or rear?

I’ll check in garage tomorrow part #s for rotors I used but calipers are below.no spacers where needed.
Front-SPC56 Caliper and Pad Set (Part #140-15173-BK)
Rear-DPC56 Caliper and Pad Set (Part #140-15174-BK)

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a set of brakes. Thanks for the info. It's interesting that your front 4-piston brakes actually need more space to the backside of the wheel than the 6-piston calipers in the same line.

I’ve got the same on my build. I believe that the fronts are SLC56 (typo) and definitely double check the last digits of the part number (R=red BK=black) as I didn’t notice until I unboxed them many months later…ugh.

I'm wondering if 4 piston in the rear with a 14" rotor would be a good idea because of the weight that is over the rear wheels (instead of going with a smaller rotor)? I'll be going with the 6-pistons in the front with Spec 37 14" rotors. I tend to over-build everything, but the car will see some track time.
