\"LARRY\"

Here are a couple of photo’s what a sheet of corrugated roof iron can do when traveling at 280km/hr. Fortunately we are in Townsville which is about 250km south of where cyclone Larry crossed the coast and the effects to us were limited. The same can not be said for our northern neighbors. The news this morning said that power reconnection was still another week away.

Here is someone’s mattress that made its way from the island.

Re: \"LARRY\"

280 km/hr?!?! That's over 173 mph to us Yanks!!! We would call that a major, category 5 storm. We had it bad enough back in 2004 in Florida, when we were hit by 3 hurricanes in the space of 7 or 8 weeks, but winds of that speed would have been devestating. You would be surprised by how many roofs today still have blue tarps on them because they have not been repaired yet.

Good luck Hilly. Things will take time, but you will recover. Keep the faith and we'll keep a good thought for ya.

Re: \"LARRY\"

Category 5 it most certainly was.
Thankfully we are a long way from where it crossed the coast and we had very little damage in Townsville. Innisfail and surrounding areas however are doing it very tough at the moment.
