Looking For Davies Craig EWP Installation Pictures

Installing the Davies Craig EWP and basically looking for pictures on installations. I have started working on my install and would like to see what others have done before I get to deep and hit a snag.

Hi Louis, the orientation that you've currently got a yours installed is described as "poor" by the manufacturer instructions, Jerry has his installed like that and had lots of problems with air locks and moved his to the rear of the car.

If you look at my build thread you'll see where I've put mine, although the disclaimer is that I've not actually put the engine in yet so don't know how good my install is

Mounted low in chassis...How low? Will need skid plate under it.

Full disclosure, I haven't started engine yet so don't know how well this will work. This is in my homemade Miura with a transverse Coyote engine. There is no room in engine compartment for the EWP so mounted up front as low as possible.

as Chris stated, i had loads of problems with it mounted up front so moved to rear here and,,,touch wood,,,, no problems.

The instillation is just in front of the engine, don't forget to drill two 5mm holes in your thermostat

Part of the reason I have ordered a EMP Stewart EWP, it's a much simpler in line installation.

I've posted this extract from the manufacturer instructions before, I think the key thing is to have the pump mounted vertically with the output at the top

Interesting to hear people have had problems with the pump up front. Mine is directly on the back of the radiator, upright. Never had a problem, in fact it cools exceptionally well. Surprised me. I have a bleed screw on top of the radiator, and no mechanical pump, blanking plate used. EWP150.

The car is up in the air at the moment with another underneath it! When I get it down next, I'll take some pictures for you. The pump is fitted to the bottom outlet via a short piece of hose. My bottom outlet is on the righthand side of the car. The flow pipe then crosses the car.
I was advised by my pump supplier that this is the best location for these pumps. It works brilliantly, no cooling issues. I use the Davies Craig digital controller.

My SLC

 

Mine is mounted on the monocoque floor behind the inspection panel behind the passenger seat. Controller mounted just below the dash to the right of the driver. Has worked very well for 10,000 miles (once I got a fault with the original controller installation sorted).

Interestingly, my pump is in a poor configuration too, and at the front, but I put an air bleed valve in the highest part of the suction bend, I only need to bleed after a refill. On the left is a thermostatic bypass valve for quicker warmup. There is no thermostat in the engine block, the engine driven pump impeller removed and the housing sealed with a core plug. Now runs so cool with none of the overheating in slow traffic that I used to have.
