Looking for recommendation on Heads for a 289 build-up

looking to build a 289 - target 380 - 400 hp rev to 7000 - 7500 rpm.

Can I use the AFR 185's or is that too much volume flow for the 289? or would the 165's be a better choice for the smaller displacement?

thanks

I think that HP goal in a 289 c.i. motor that will be strong and reliable will also be expensive. Take a 289 block and stroke it to a 331 or a 347 and you will reach your HP goals at lower rpm which will require less strength (read $$$$) from your components and give you more drivability at lower rpm.
As to answering your question... the 185's will allow more peak HP but leave a huge hole in the power below say 3000 rpm while the 165's may struggle for breath to reach 400hp in a 289. Brodix makes a 175 for Ford smallblocks. Maybe that will help?
