Lotus consulted for frame before they made their own?

Thanx for the picture of the clay model. had that one. The ones that are hard to come by are the other directions they went that weren't persued like the sawed-off nose version, stacked exhaust version, etc. Anyhow, now trying to confirm a story that Ford went to Lotus around year 2000 to buy the M250 extruded aluminum tube chassis but that Ford's emissary, Jac Nasser, was so cranky that the deal didn't go through and that's when Ford decided to do their own chassis. One reporter even said Ford would have used the M250 chassis for the V8 powered one and the Elise chassis for a V6 powered mid engined car. But of course Lotus wouldn't admit such a meeting ever took place and Nasser was fired so anybody else got any confirmation that Lotus was wooed? Thanks for any tips, Yer Friendly Historian

And ask me about how GM and Lotus argued about the ZR-1 bore spacing....I was told the story by TWO Lotus people, one of whom designed the V8 in the Esprit!
