You will be happy that Harmison is in.

Jonathan Trott is an accomplished batsman as well. Plays for Warwickshire and is actually a yarpie by birth but can play for England on account of his grandparentage.
If the Strauss uses Steve Harmison it would be fantastic, though he can be a bit hungover - especially, allegedly, if he goes out with Flintoff in the evening. But for the Ashes I think the wild child images might be shelved.

The Barmy Army have been very unkind to Mitchell Johnston,
Here are some classics.

<TABLE class=forumline cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=3 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=row2 vAlign=top width="100%" height=28><TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD colSpan=2>
These, along with the constant chants of "Get your stars off our flag" have made for a classic Barmy Army test at Edgbaston.

(To tune of 'I love you baby')

You're just too bad to be true
Can't take our eyes off of you
You must be heaven to play
Cause England are putting you away
You're just too bad to be true
England are hamm-ering you....

Der der, der der (etc)

Oh Mitchell Johnson,
Your bowling is cack!
Oh Mitchell Johnson,
We're giving you some whack
Oh Mitchell Johnson,
Straight out of the attack

(To tune of You Give Love a Bad Name):

You've fallen apart
Your bowling's tame
You've lost the ability to aim

The Aussies are crap and you're to blame
Mitchell gives Aussies a bad name
Mitchell gives Aussies a bad name

Will the Australian selectors pick Brett Lee? Tonight on AU TV he claims he has full recovered. IMHO they would be crazy to leave him out.

According to Npower Ashes PR - yes - Brett Lee has recovered sufficiently to be included for this test. It's all beginning to sound like a fantastic match coming up. You do realise there are accusations of Strauss and his merry men sandbagging to generate more and bigger gates :smash:
and that Ponting and his crew are not really a representative Australian side.
Personally I don't hold with either viewpoint as so far it's been a brilliant Ashes series. If Australia win at Headingley (Leeds) , the Oval test in London will be incredible.

Going:: One ticket main stand for Monday £75. Quick response required. I'm planning on going - but one of the guys (my Doctor) cannot make it now hence the availability. It's going to rain on Sunday so this could be the day when it's decided.

It shoud be snapped up the scalpers are asking 200 quid.

Australian captain Ricky Ponting has backed his bowlers to hold their nerve in the tense atmosphere of the fourth Ashes Test at Headingley starting Friday.
The touring side's inexperienced attack has been up and down during the opening three Tests and Australia need them to keep it together as they try to erase a 1-0 series deficit.
"I have total confidence in every member of our playing squad that in a big game like this is for us, that we can bring out our best cricket," Ponting said.
"This one now is a must-win game for us.
"But the way things have come together for us over the last few days, some of our guys will probably come back to full fitness and we got some really positive results to come out of the last Test as well.
"Hopefully this week we can get five good days of cricket in and put in the best performance we have had in the series."
Ponting said his side must grab the momentum early and not ease up against an England side just one victory away from regaining the Ashes.
"It is a massive game for all of us and we will certainly approach it that way," he said.
"I would love to be able to win the series here (in England) but if we happen to be 1-1 at the end of it, holding onto the Ashes would be pretty sweet as well."
Australia have gone four Tests without a victory and seven matches since their last triumph in England.
The tourists have some niggling injury concerns before the Leeds clash with Michael Clarke (stomach-muscle strain) having a limited training session on Thursday.
The leading runscorer in the series is still expected to take his place in the side in Leeds.
Wicketkeeper Brad Haddin did some catching drills for the second straight session but is no certainty to return after breaking his finger last Thursday.
His back-up Graham Manou suffered a nasty whack on the hand batting in Edgbaston on Monday but team management is confident he can play if required with his bruised hand.
The fourth Ashes Test starts at 11am (2000 AEST) on Friday.

No Flintoff at Headingley apparently. Keeping him for the Oval I suppose ?
The met should be OK for today with high overcast conditions.
This should favour the swing and later on seam bowling with copious slips,
though if Ponting wins the toss and bats first, it may go into pace bowling from the off.

Stops the tourists from dozing at the crease......

Pete, David, Ant,

Oh My....where have England gone! All out for 102. Not good...not good at all. My how things change. Now where's that famous British weather Pete was asking for a few days ago.....I'm performing a long distance rain dance as we speak.

196-4 at the close..need a miracle but i think we used our quota back in '81. not sure there is the personality in the side to pull it off, Beefy was one of a kind..

Only hope is the early morning muggyness returns so we can start to swing the ball before the sun comes out too much. Finish them off by lunch and then bat for 2 days..leaving a huge target from a record 2nd innings score...

Its half full, the glass is always half full.........

Maybe it was my fault, i listened all day which i don't usually do, so tomorrow i shall work on the car and listen to music not cricket...do my bit as it were

Don't worry guys - England is only sandbagging. Don't we need a big finale in the Oval ? No point in today if we come away from Leeds with the urn. I'd much rather see it decided on the last day of the last test. It's a sort of adrenalin tension thing that I crave.
Just stand fast in the ranks.

:grinf: Well, it now goes to the wire at the Oval. I think that to be defeated by an innings and 80 runs is ignominious and not just sand bagging. There seemed to be a lack
of Alpha types in the England side but I don't offer that as an excuse.
I think the selectors now have an awsome task and I would not be suprised to see the Bloodaxe (Ramps) being recalled to the side. I rate him as the best English player
at the moment and they would be silly to leave him out. With a side including him, Mark Ramprakash, and Freddie Flintoff, Monty Panasar, Matt Prior, Stewart Broad, Graham Swann, Steve Harmison, Graham Onions and Andrew Strauss we should not be left wanting at Kennington.
It wasn't quiet really Pete, I find it diffcult but not impossible to use internet and drive simultaneously.
About another thirty miles and I'll be home. (JUST JOKING....)
Well Done Australia. A fine team - at last.:chug:

Well I'd like to be magnanimous in victory. But I cant...We kicked your arse.:pepper::pepper::pepper::pepper::pepper::pepper::pepper:

It will be a cracker of a decider, may the best team win and lets hope the umpires do not have an effect on the outcome.

Pete, Credit where credit is due mate because you Wallabies really wholloped us. Thats an arse kicking of the highest order. Like David, I'm a bit concerned about what I briefly saw and read. Not very promising and the Aussies look like they might be peeking at the right time. I hate it when that happens!! Still I won't give up on England...sometimes a good thrashing is nothing more than a very good wake-up call. Let's bloody hope so. Like you I hope the umps are seen but not heard.

Wallabies? Looks like England have had some good news with Freddies knee coming good, and Brett Lee unlikely to get a run. Punter thinks he would be underdone.
