Well done Andrew.
Now chop off that Rover bracket but leave the alloy ball socket post intact.
Like this one.

Hi gents.
Nice pick-up Andy.
James,
What method was used to attach the socket post to the alloy mounting block and does the post need any further mods after being cut??

I,ve got five of these mirrors complete with the original GT40 windscreen stubs wrapped up somewhere in the house in one of a hundred boxes never unpacked from my move many years ago !!

I,ve always run my 40 with one of these type mirrors and supplied several to others over the years so i had better dig the remainder out and put them on Ebay for you all to bid for. I need the funds to keep racing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pete,
The Lucas 608 was made in the thousands for many British marques and the fixings were varied.
The original post and ball were all one piece but you will wait a long time for one to turn up.
Good machining to make an aluminium ferrule/post to fit the ball will make it indestinguishable.
I have an original (and a few other types) and will get around to measuring it up some day.

Thanks for the info James.
I have an older unit here that I will experiment with before attacking a good one.
