Here's the link to my GT40 progress page on our club web site. The 30 second video is my archive file of the first time the engine was run. A lot like the first time I had sex (but without the video). The memory shall linger on! www.okkitcar.org/benzgt.htm

Way to go Ben!!!

I have to ask where you got your FAV chassis tag. I tried to get one from Fran Kress, but he is out of them and not sure if he can get more because the guy who made them up has moved. Fran thinks he can hunt him down, but just in case, I'd like to have a contingency plan.

The two reverse scoops on the engine cover is a different touch. Is this to evacuate the heat from the area to keep the intake air as cool as possible? Let us know how it works.

Nice work!

Hey Ben,
Lookin' Good!! I really like that site and the pictures. Did you make the air cleaners yourself or can they be purchased ? If so would you e mail me the company that sells them.
Those Holman Moody valve covers look trick too.

Ron,
I've changed he link. You should have no problem now.

Hersh,
Machine shop students at the school where I taught prior to retirement made them, The Ford Logo is ball milled into the tops.

Lynn,
The heat dissipation is a beneficial by-prodcut of the installation but the scoops were installed to provide clearance for the air filters.

Great job Ben! I too am building a left hand drive, left hand shift configuration. Lets hope we can train our left hands to do a proper job. By the way, I plan on using Velcro to hold my seats in and installing a Gurney bubble for brain bucket clearance.

Lynn,
In my original reply I forgot to mention that if you want the FAV Vin Plates I can get them locally. If interested, let me know and I'll get you the price. BTW, they will already have the Serial Number engraved in. I can also get the smaller
sill plate style

Ben,

Great looking car! i had to look twice when I read the words 'Cruise control'! must be the only GT40 in the world with cruise facility!

In the UK I use cruise alot on my daily driver, mainly to avoid accidental speeding! Can cruise be retro fitted as a kit to any vehicle, or is this something you have developed yourself?

Julian,
Cruise was fitted for same reason as yours on your daily driver, to avoid "unintentional" speeding. I have a similar system on my Cobra and its already saved me the cost of the system in fines. And yes, almost any car can be retro-fitted with a cruise control.

Hi Ben, At last I've got back on the site! I have viewed the pics, and I'm glad we managed to get the engine fired up between us. Do you still want the mirrors? I lost track a bit with the problems on the forum, but I can get them quickly if you want. I would also like to chat about future improvements that we can suggest for you, based on the developments carried out here. Frank

Ben, the car looks great and the motor sounds super smooth in the video. The headlight covers look especially good, not that I'm biased or anything.

Frank, Yes, I still want the mirrors. Please advise me of the cost to include shipping and I'll get a check fired off to you.

Mark, Yes, the lenses were the ones I got from you. This forum and its members have been a Godsend. Had I not found it, I would surely be 6 months behind where I am now with the GT. Folks like Frank Katt, yourslf, Lynn, Ron and all of the others who have either provided services or advice get a lot of the credit for where I am. And, if you think the engine sounds good on the video, you should hear it up close and personal.

Thanks to you all!!!
