Ron, I'll echo what Chris said; when I spoke with him last week, Hershal said he toasted a clutch not the transmission.

Hershal was nice enough to give me a ride around the track at R&G last week. I was more curious about the visibility out of the GT40 than the performance. The visibility, even for a tall guy like me, was great. (Which means that I'll probably now have to schedule a trip to Detroit...)

Anyway, I got to talking to Hershal about transaxles. I thought the RBT ZF was $8k, but he told me it was more like $12k. That turned the conversation to the 016. He's got the same transaxle that he started with and it even has the same synchros that were in it when he picked it up out of the junk yard. It now has 140,000 miles on it (if I remember correctly).

Hershal said that he changed to a ceramic clutch and that fixed his toasty clutch problems.
